The biggest kick in the nuts will be when Mesaba/NWA announces that the Saab program will go to another outside carrier as they are delivering new 76 seaters. There will never be any 'Snap-Back' provisions paid out. EVER.

Northwest - Always good for the old "Pump and Dump" routine. All they care about is the green, screw everyone else.

In today's Star Tribune there's a big Mesaba Job Fair ad. Either they have a lot of attrition, or they're ramping up for growth. They are hiring Ramp Agents, Gate Agents, Crew Schedulers, A&P Mechanics, Ground Service Equipments Mechanic, Avionics Technicians, Administrative Personnel and Summer Interns. All at once....

In every shell game there is a "patsy" - someone who just doesn't get it and will be left holding the turd! I wonder who that group will be????

The earlier post regarding the use of "initially" was spot on! You know that you'll give it up, because the senior guys will do it, period.

If Wychor were an intelligent man, he wouldn't even offer a vote to the pilots again, especially if the MAIR letter appears in the language of anything you guys are offered by mainline.

Ok TAWS we get it... you were at XJ, took the opportunity to leave and was sucessful. Why don't you back off and stop spreading your Mesaba hatred around! We get it already. Everyone has their own story as to why they're still at XJ. Give them a break. You left, so why do you even care? If I were you I would have left and never looked back.

I second that, backwash from escapees is not helpful, when we have our hands full of nwa/mair bile...

YPF: We cannot assume that all senior captains at mesaba would shift over to dc-9 fo, based on the pay rates alone.
Many of them are enjoying schedules with weekends and holidays off, and have no desire to be at the bottom of nwa's list.

I still think that some sort of integragion is called for here, and is in the best interest of both groups. Ten plus years of flying for nwa, with no accidents or incidents needs to count for something...unless it is in the nwa alpa's best interest to preserve us as a whipsaw, to hold down costs at the small airplane levels, in order to essentially subsidize mainline pay and retirement?
Or am i being too cynical?

by the way, all you nwa jumpseaters who can't get on the saab, due to weight restrictions- we are really very sorry about this, but the saab cannot handle the load. We feel very bad about this, considering the help we get from mainline to get to and from work. Maybe a new aircraft will help!

There is no doubt that integration of the pilot groups would be in the professions best interest. That being said there was ZERO interest in integrating Express I when NWA bought us so I can't imagine there will be much more interest in integrating Mesaba.

NWA should start up one of those reality based TV shows to boost the bottom line. They could call it "Flip That Airline."

I have ZERO hatred for the guys that fly the line there, infact I don't hate Spanjers et al. I think you guys can do much better than just bending over when every new BS situation comes along. It pisses me off, as I have friends still there, that you guys have put your lives on hold and are now paddling backwards, because the senior guys have persuaded you to.
I know that alot of you look at the time invested and find it hard to walk away, but it's akin to a gambling addiction - "I can win it back" and is painful to watch.
I honestly hope that you guys get growth and get some return on the years you have invested, then take that time and move on, but by the time that happens, the guys you used to instruct back at the FBO, or at college, have gotten their time and are now at the majors.

I wish all of you the best, but especially the upgrade/downgrade guys - at some point, in every business negotiation, you have to be prepared to say thanks but no thanks. I hope you don't get fooled again.

TAWS - how long were you at XJ before you left? Just curious. That's wonderful you gambled and hit the jackpot at Chautauqa, but dude, stop throwing stones. If you have friends at XJ, why don't you give them and the rest of the pilot group your respect they deserve. They were backed into a corner (I couldn't vote, I'm on furlough). No, it's not right that concessions were voted in. Just like you, the YES voters gambled. We'll see if that was the right move.

>2 years.

I think I have a connection to those that I flew with over there. I'm not throwing stones at a group of guys I flew with, but I flew with mostly junior guys (SAAB DTW) and hate to see them continue down this path.

The yes voters gambled but what they don't realize is that you're still at the table and the ball hasn't finished spinning round the wheel.

Enough said - let's wait a couple of months and see where this goes! If you get growth/recall/upgrade, then I'm happy that better days have arrived, I just think that NWA and MAIR have alot more in store for you and aren't even being subtle about it.
