Maybe I missed something somewhere, but if NWA just recently completed their purchase of Mesaba then why would they pursue Compass Airlines any further? Wouldn't 36 new CRJ900's with options for 90+ more take care of what they were after with Compass?
I don't believe the sale is final. The NWA pilots believe the acquisition of Mesaba, if they are operating aircraft larger than 50 seats, is a violation of their scope clause. The language in their agreement supports this belief.
If NWA does not operate Compass they are restricted to 50-something 76 seaters. If Mesaba is intended to be Compass the XJ working agreement would have to be dismanteled and they would be giving up all of their job security.
I'm sorry, you Mesaba guys need to get it out of your heads if you think you are going to replace Compass. Compass was started for one thing and one thing only, GROWTH! I would say that you are better off over at Compass than at Mesaba. Both company's delivery schedules are the same with the exception that Compass has options for 100.
Not any more...Mesaba is too top heavy.
where do you get the "options for 100"? I have only seen options for more 36 erj's 175 and Northwest has options for 96 more crjs. Is this not right?
Not any more...
Doesn't matter, the unit cost at mesaba is lower than compass even with the high seniority pilots.
So all the 15+ year guys are gone?
If they midatlantic compass, that could be a very hairy situation for mesaba pilots. Especially if the compass pilots get stapled to the bottom of NWA and have flow up/down provisions at mesaba.funny this Compass thing............I gues BP was in a recurrent ground school and said that compass will be like a sibling.......we will use the same hangers, mechanics, gate agents....... what does that mean? We will use the same management too? everything will be the same except pilot seniority.....I bet thats the key. Remember this, everyone talks about NWA selling XJ off after they build us up, they could make billions.....well if they start Compass, guess what, if they do the same thing, they could double that billions if they sold off both!
