Are they really hiring off the street captains with only 2000 total and 500 multi with no ATP ??

Are they hurting that bad for CA's ? A guy I have met a couple times told me he was hired there as a captain to be honest I never believed him. Just thinking of him as a captain is scary. He had to of forged stuff in his logbook. The only thing he has been flying is a single-engine cessna's. So I have no idea how we was hired. I can't believe he slipped that past your hiring board. He tried it at ExpressJet and they caught it and told him to go home. People like that should be banned for life!!

All I can say is good luck to you and your Saab's

I know I will be avoiding them now.

I think its going to be real interesting. The good news is that the training department is top notch, if this guy's experience is B.S. they will sniff him out real fast.

I would hope so. Like I said he didnt even make it more than 10min at a ExpressJet interview and was told to leave. It is just scary knowing crap like that happens.

Good luck to you guys

Any numbnuts can pass an interview. The training department will not SAT someone just because we we are short Captains.

THe mins are 2000/500... but that doesn't mean that's what guys/girls are getting hired with. The ones that have been hired exceed the minimums considerably.

mmmmm send a note to our training department about your friend if its true, if you are just jealous, or think he is a bad pilot, our training department will take care of him or her

I know of 2 street captains really struggling in the current class that pink slipped the oral last week. Doesnt sound good for them. They are holding the bar way up and makes me feel good about who they are bringing in(hiring) and passing(know their SH*t). Very good group of guys that have a good head on their shoulders with no ego.

Not entirely true my friend. Actually it was 2 actual failures, 1 was a New Hire captain. The guy knew his systems fairly well, had a basic idea of how to do TLR. But never read Chapter 5 of the POM, therefore when asked about corrections to TLR and certain TLR (limitations) It all went south from there.
#2 was an FO which had issues during training overall. Didn't do good at all on a written and Oral.
#3 Was not a failure but close. It was a guy that was an Upgrade (been there for about 2 years or more) And was also very week on TLR b/c didnt review chapter 5 to well either. I believe that b/c he was pretty strong in systems he just got a slap in the hand and passed.
I agree, the training department does an excellent job, but as always there are alot of things that could use some improvement (nothing's perfect)
But from what I saw, yeah for sure if someone is very week on an area he/she will not pass. It is a very demanding program.
Overall everyone except those 2 passed. Out of 9 New hire captains 8 passed their Oral, and out of 12 to 15 FO's 1 Failed.

our training department is top notch, busting an oral or even a PC sucks for anyone. Its not for us to judge if someone is incompetent by a pink slip. I will say that ch 5 is not a fun chapter to cover in a oral. It was the hardest part of my oral a few months ago. what flybet has written is pretty right on.

I agree man, I think the training is "fair" if you study and can get into the groove of what a 121 course demands. If not, well... you can always take another route. I know that everyone, and I mean EVERYONE in that class was studying very hard to pass. But maybe some study habits can complicate things. Like reading waaaaaaay to much, and what I mean is trying to "BUILD" the system instead of understand it, or Studying 8 systems on night instead of only doing 2 a night with some limitations and memory items.
I can also honestly say that if it wasnt b/c someone told me to read chapter 5, and then read it again, and once I knew it READ it again! I might've struggled too. I dont wish a failure on ANYONE. I just hope that the ones that are struggling really bad and feel like they're not going to make to just volutarily move on before they have something on their permanent record.

Hey FLybet when do you start sims?? STL or MSP??
I will be back in MSP Jan 2nd

I'll be back in STL on the 2nd as well. But I'm only doing some sim training in STL, then i head back to MSP to finish up. Enjoying the time off?

My class will be getting to oe soon, but I talked to the scheduler and she was saying there is very little delay for the saab, average is two weeks but only because they have to get all the paperwork through from the checkrides before they can schedule.

Damn...well, two weeks is better than two days i guess.
