Know several people who left Mesa and never recieved their last two paychecks. They gave them 2 weks notice and did not receive their last two checks. You really want to work there. There excuse is you need to give them more notice or they are trying to get your check figured out. Then a couple of my friends get promisary notes after they have been at MESA (HELL)longer than a year for 4,000$. The note is BS inadmissable in court. Not notorized, MESA did not sign it, and does not clarify date it goes into effect. Talked to the stated attorney from GA. he said it will NOTFLOAT, throw it away.

Mesa sucks, but go swallows like his daughter

AZ state law says they have to pay you by the next pay period or if they fire you within 3 days. You can file paper work with the courts to get up to 3x what they owe you or just file with the labor board for your last checks. Either way just file a complain so it's on record maybe Mesa will eventually get a big fine.

JO and the senior mgmt would just SH!T if everyone did this, do it now!!!!

Having spoken to many people who've left recently, this is the problem (apparently):

Mesa airlines pays two paychecks per cycle (28 day cycle). The minimum guarantee is 70 hours, and the paycheck is broken down thusly:

Pay check one: 40 hour paycheck

Pay check two: 30 hour paycheck, plus any overtime, vacation time, per diem, sick time, etc. This is "the adjustment" check

Where am I going with this? Well, the last pay check you get at Mesa is always paid with the "adustment" check cycle. So, if you timed your exit poorly, you might be waiting up to 4 weeks for the adjustment check cycle to roll around. Plus, this check is an actual paper check, so after waiting in the mail, it may take over 5+ weeks to get it.

Now . . .what if Payroll dropped the ball for some reason? Now you'll be waiting for the NEXT "adjustment check" . . . ANOTHER 4 weeks, minimum.

Hence the problem. Best thing to do . . . . give lots of early notice (if possible) document your struggle via email, don't be afraid to go to the top (JO), and show up in their office and tell them you're not going anywhere before you get that check in your hot little hands.

--->Every other job I've ever sent me my last paycheck with 5 business days. This, however, is Mesa. We do things differently here.

Yeah, but we're ALPA, covered under the RLA, so I don't think this will go anywhere. You have to go through the union, and this could take the rest of your natural born life.

It's illegal for a company to withhold a paycheck anyway.

Exactly! Consult a good lawyer! Usually company's are afraid of litigation if threatened to be dragged through the mud. Of course, we are talking about Mesa!;)

I would thing the mud would be an improvement from the sewer that Mesa wallows in now.

Yeah, MAG alpa has enough trouble supporting their current pilots, much less an ex-pilot.

I got actually got paid within 5 days, everything they owed me, plus ALL of my vacation that had just kicked in a few days earlier, without me having to ask. Of course when I left I had grounds for a MAJOR lawsuit and they knew it. If you don't have anything to hold over them, you probably won't get paid without serious hassles.
