Mesa Air Group Announces Commencement of United Jet Operations
Friday September 19, 2:16 pm ET

PHOENIX, Sept. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Mesa Air Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: MESA - News) announced today that it has commenced service as United Express with the sixty-four passenger CRJ-700 regional jet. The aircraft will be operated under a ten-year agreement with United Airlines. Four CRJ-700 aircraft will be in service by the end of September, four more will be added by the end of the year and seven additional aircraft are scheduled to begin service early in 2004. Five additional CRJ-700s are scheduled to be put in service during 2005. The aircraft will initially serve Denver, CO, St. Louis, MO, Portland, OR, Salt Lake City, UT, Phoenix, AZ, and Los Angeles and Ontario, CA. In addition to the twenty CRJ-700 regional jets, Mesa intends to add fifteen fifty-passenger CRJ-200 aircraft and four additional thirty-seven passenger Dash-8-200 aircraft to the United Express system in 2004. Under the agreement United has the option to add an additional twenty-five regional jets which, if exercised, would bring the total regional jet fleet to sixty.

Mesa Chairman and CEO Jonathan Ornstein stated, "We are delighted to be the first airline to fly the CRJ-700 under the United Express banner. The high level of comfort, convenience and reliability provided by this state of the art regional jet aircraft will undoubtedly be well received by our passengers. We would like to thank all of our employees for their hard work and support, without which this would not have been possible."

Hopefully their service problems won't cause them to lose the contract.

Bye Bye--General Lee

So I guess the 700's are on the Mesa certificate finally? Was it worth the fight guys?

first and coach

yes. both first and coach out of Den. I think they have 4 or 6 in first and the rest coach.

How ironic that Mesa tries to offer "first class." Does that mean they offer first class passengers clean coffee cups?

yes it was, we stopped freedom.

No it wasn't worth it. All you had to do was wait for the judge to issue his single carrier ruling. Then you guys would have had the upper hand with Ornstein.

If you guys stopped Freedom, then why is it you still hear Freedom air on the radio???

Sometimes I wonder how our industry has gone amuck and lost the "romance" that it used to hold. I often thought that it was due to reasons outside of our control, but after reading the last 2 posts I can see that the majority of it is our very own fault. Or I should say it's the fault of those that lack any professionalism or etiquette to handle themselves appropriately. I wonder how much of your attitude is seen by the flying public...
:(
