Mesa Air Group Announces Commencement of United Jet Operations

PHOENIX, Sept. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Mesa Air Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: MESA - News) announced today that it has commenced service as United Express with the sixty-four passenger CRJ-700 regional jet. The aircraft will be operated under a ten-year agreement with United Airlines. Four CRJ-700 aircraft will be in service by the end of September, four more will be added by the end of the year and seven additional aircraft are scheduled to begin service early in 2004. Five additional CRJ-700s are scheduled to be put in service during 2005. The aircraft will initially serve Denver, CO, St. Louis, MO, Portland, OR, Salt Lake City, UT, Phoenix, AZ, and Los Angeles and Ontario, CA. In addition to the twenty CRJ-700 regional jets, Mesa intends to add fifteen fifty-passenger CRJ-200 aircraft and four additional thirty-seven passenger Dash-8-200 aircraft to the United Express system in 2004. Under the agreement United has the option to add an additional twenty-five regional jets which, if exercised, would bring the total regional jet fleet to sixty.
