Obvious MGMT knows something we don't. Mesa isn't going anywhere and will be flying more A/C in the future. So much for the " we are parking airplanes starting in 2014 if we can't control our costs"

I think this concept will carryover industrywide. As cities get abandoned from CRJ service, there will be demand for some sort of service. Re-enter part 135. Caravans or the like with 2 pilot crews and 250hr wonders in the right seat.

Or is this a plan to backfill positions as attrition to the majors starts?

30% (yeah ok 3 of the 10) usairways new hires this week were Mesa guys. Almost everyone here has their app somewhere else. It's slow going now, but it's going to get crazy soon...I hope!

from the website:

All qualified MPD students will have an opportunity to build flight time on our affiliate Mokulele Airlines – on Cessna Caravan Turbine Powered aircraft.

Mesa sold off Mokulele... I wonder how that would work. Plus the Caravan is certified for single pilot ops. Unless it's in the op specs, I don't know if they can legally log the time. Last I heard, Mokulele was 135.

Maybe the can put someone in the right seat until next year when the minimums kick in.

When I worked for Mesa in the mid 90's, many employees at Mesa migrated to airlines such as America West and US Airways. The connection is closer than it appears in which the whole world is about who you know! not what you know! Some people are still getting it twisted.

Maybe the PIC can be under the foggles while the "SIC" acts as the safety pilot on that Caravan.

(I kid, I kid...)
