Who do they have JS privileges with?
Does Mesa have family travel benifits (parents)?
Thanks
JS is on every reciprecating (sp?) US airline... Mesa is an ALPA represented carrier, so you as a pilot can jumpseat on pretty much any other carrier... If you fly in the UAL system you can occupy the UAL jumpseat, USAirways can occupy the USAir jumpseat, and ALL mesa employees can occupy the America West Jumpseat. I believe that there has to be NO AVAILABLE SEATS in the back for you to occupy the Jumpseat though...
ALL Mesa pilots and their spouse, dependant children, and parents can fly on America West free of charge *(Parents may have a small fee)
ALSO:
If you are in the USAirways system, you, your spouse, your parents can participate in the Term-Pass program which enables everyone FREE travel on US Airways (best travel program in the industry)
If you're in the UAL system, yourself, spouse, kids, and parents get UAL pass priveledges, which is a small fee based on milage I believe...
There are also some decent interline rates on most other carriers for your family and you.... IE: southwest, hawaian, airtran, and others via the pass bureau.

ICYwings You asked:
During the 3 or 4 weeks of training can you jumpseat to go home on the weekends to see your family if you want?
Short Answer: No......
You probably could.... Heck some people live in Phoenix.... But the bottom line is you really need to spend ALL your energy on your studies... Seriously. Folks who go home are WAY more likely to Wash out... One of the Washouts from my class (A furloughed UAL pilot and former F-16 driver) washed because he went home every night, and tried to run a business at the same time he was in training... He was a sharp guy, but not devoted enough to studying and it proved a costly error... He busted his oral...
SO, bottom line... Family will understand... Training has to be the priority for a few weeks..
