Sounds like the Skyway guys who are going to the Dash 8 will be out of DEN. Can't believe anybody would actually put themself through sitting years of reserve in JFK. How long would it take for a street captain there to hold even a reserve line in ORD?....if ever.
 
What I can't believe is anybody going to Mesa in the first place.
Why?
Please make it stop.
There is no right time.

• Must have previous airline experience
• CRJ: 3500 hours total time with 500 hours jet time
• DHC-8: ATP minimums
• Commercial Pilot Certificate with Multi Engine and Instrument ratings
• Current FAA First Class Medical certificate
• Instrument current and proficient
• FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit
• Current passport
• At least 21 years of age
• Legally authorized to work in the United States of America
• Willing to relocate
• Able to pass security background check and FAA mandated drug test

bring on the street captains baby! i hope every single fo eligible for upgrade over there gets passed over and has to fly every trip with a street captain. you a holes don't have the sense god gave a dog, you aren't qualified to be captains. you're like battered wives that keep making excuses for getting the crap beat out of you. thought mesa'd be your way to a quick upgrade huh? not so fast my friend! maybe you should send your resume to aloha. i heard they were...well, it looks like you scumbags put them out of business so there goes that option. i've never seen such a large group of people s*ck so badly at life.

Cause your scared......I work for MESA and I am not scared sure I want to leave but to not allow one to get home to see their family or back to work...uncool...what is YOUR name so I can make it COOL for you to get home.

while i agree with the sentiment of your response (the jumpseat should never be used to make a point), you shouldn't be calling people dumb when you can barely string a coherent sentence together. scratch that. i just reread your post. you absolutely can't string a coherent sentence together. you're going to make it "cool" for him to get home huh? what in god's name does that even mean?

I do not see how ANYONE in their right mind would even consider going Street Captain at Mesa.

I said it in another thread and I'll say it again here: The time of looking the other way and seperating Mesa pilots from Mesa management is over. The expected backlash is happening, whether in the jumpseat or on your interview board. Reap what you sow, Mesa Pilots are not innocent in all this.

You may not be FULLY responsible, management is very much to blame, but hold yourself accountable for the company you keep. I equate working at Mesa on the same level of KNOWINGLY hanging out with crackheads & child molesters in your social circle.

Aren't you tired of playing the "I just work here" card? The rest of us are.

The latest Mesa politics are the last straw. These injustices do not just go away over night or go over lightly.

No mercy for Mesa.

As a former Mesa pilot, my biggest concern for anyone tempted by a direct entry captain spot is this:

Should your base close, or even be reduced in size, you will only be able to displace into what your seniority can hold.

In "non-contract" speak, this means that if your base shrinks, you're going to be a first officer again, and probably for a long time.

The company won't be able to help you, either; they'll just tell you to "read your contract."

Any pilot who takes this deal should be well aware that their captain slot could literally disappear overnight.
 
Something else to consider: being a street captain is no easy job at any airline....I hear that 70 percent of Captain's upgrade at Pinnacle fail their first type ride. It would have to be higher for street Captains.

Can anyone at Pinnacle confirm a 70 percent failure rate and explain why??
 
Because the training at Pinnacle sucks ass and they have lifer check airman who get off on handing out pink slips, making it that much more difficult to escape from 9E hell and move onto greener pastures.

Interesting suggestion.

I wonder if Mesa-ALPA could come to some sort of agreement that any former Aloha-turned-street hire captains would have "super-seniority" for any CA spots that open up on the islands (and the islands only)?

If the Go! flying expands, as purportedly it will, this would at least give Aloha pilots a chance to work near home. Hardly an ideal situation, I know, but at least it's something.

Mesa-ALPA, of course, would have to move quick with a proposal like this, and it would be a very hard sell to the Mesa pilot group. I think the amount of people affected would be very, very small though, and it would give some credence to all the "brotherhood" kool-aid that gets tossed around.
