What I don't understand is when mesa flies UAL, my employment can be verified in Apollo, but that isn't good enough to sit in a mesa cockpit.

What up wit dat?

Sounds incorrect. Have your j/s chairman follow up. They will get an answer.

That's incorrect. If you are a UAL express carrier then you can ride in a Mesa j/s if the flight is a UAX flight.

Not true. Respectfully ask the bonehead Mesa captain to pull out his GOM. Clearly states that 99% of pilots who can be verified via Sabre, Apollo, or Shares can sit in the Mesa jumpseat.

Sometimes the problem I run into is that the gate agent dosen't know how to do anything other than CASS. If they can't electronically verify, (using one of the above 3 systems), we can't let 'em up there.

I just received the latest CASS configuration update. It lists the progress that carriers are making and what stage of development they are in. Mesa is no where on the list.

It was formally announced late this evening west coast time by a Mesa VP. ETA 30 days.

Ahhh, thats why. The config update shows only those who've started work. I wish them luck. To be up and running in 30 days is a task to be sure!

If you can make it past the gate agent(or if I know you're waiting up there) you're welcome on my jet...when I return from mil leave that is. :D

At allegiant i first remember being told we were working on cass and that it would be up and working in september of 2005. After repeatedly hearing it was close, we got it going in march of 2006 i believe. It just took a while for some reason i guess? I think it is just not a simple process at all.

Just found out that Mesa will be a CASS carrier soon :)

That is the best news I've heard in the airline business this year. :) :) :)

Getting to/from CHS is getting tougher and tougher these days.

Any word on PSA getting CASS?

Yahtz

P.S. To the Mesa and PSA guys, thanks for the rides.

PSA is CASS... All US Airways owned carriers are now.

Weasil,

Thanks for the info. When did this happen? Looks like I need to put the smackdown on my jumpseat coordinator for not telling us. ;)

The above quotes counter my experience. On one flight the Mesa CA called his chief pilot to ensure and got a no.

Mesa is not listed as a CASS carrier.

While I do not disagree with the above quotes, the expereince differs. As a guest asking to be invited, pushing the issue at the gate/aircraft is not an option.

I do agree though that if I can be verified then why not. Must Mesa be a particpating CASS member?

Rezfully Yours,

I just saw an ad for MAPD that guaranteed an interview to sit in any CASS carrier's cockpit after you finish your commercial license.

Link or was it in print somewhere?

Ah, if only everyone was a "manual nerd" like me . . (the species would die out . . )

Truly sorry this happened to you. If you CAN be verified via Sabre, Apollo, or Shares, and you work for United, Delta, USair, AmWest, or one of their "express" carriers, you're good to go.

Sadly, most CA's are (I'll be nice here) in too much of a hurry to look up this kind of detail . . . .and I'm not surprised a CP might not have the time to deal with this either. Fact is, I have a very specific manual in hand that says who can ride, and how they have to be verified, and in the absence of contrary instructions, the jumpseat is yours.

Anyhoo, hopefully Mesa will have CASS in another 30-60 days, and this will all be moot.
