what's the longer answer?

Long answer:

Have you heard of JO? I looked into this a while back and decided not to do it. You will in no way have any guarantee that you will be given a captain slot. It is possible that after you've quit your old job and show up for class at Mesa that you find out your in EMB145 school as an FO.

You cannot trust this company at all and unless its in writing that your going to be a Dash captain right away then I wouldn't even consider it unless you have a decent amount of money in the bank and a good sense of humor.

Best of luck to you.

Giving up whatever seniority you have accrued to roll the dice as a street captain at Mesa is akin to handing a stranger that new $1000 camera you just bought to take your family's picture. You could wind up like the Griswolds or you could have a nice picture, nobody knows.

Mesa is a union carrier...seniority determines your fate in the long run. If you do mesa you may well get awarded captain in training (the company cannot guarantee this, they must offer the CA slots to all eligible senior pilots before they give it to you). But if ANYTHING changes, you will be the first one on the street. Do some homework about mesa's current relationships with their partners...

With our current contract, only the Dash FO's are eligable to bid it. This equates to less then 200 eligable pilots to bid it out of the 1900 on our list. Gotta love our contract...

As far as our current relationships with our partner, a toilet flushes slower...

???
Actually I worked at mesa...it is the most dysfunctional organization I have ever had the misfortune to be associated with. I left for many good reasons, but my personal observations of their daily operational catastrophes led me to believe that my job was in serious jeopardy, sooner rather than later.
