Must have been the black tennis shoes and "members only" jackets!

Serioulsy, ATW is a mgmt propaganda publication! Doesn't suprise me to see the airline with the lowest pilot pay get the award.

exemplary service to the public as well as completing a successful business restructuring.........................

Is it me or does MESA winning this dilute the significance of everyone else that as won?

"Mesa was recognized by ATW for its exemplary service to the public"
Where's John Stossle when you need him!
GIVE ME A BREAK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, feel better?

Mesa was started by one man with one airplane. He grew it to be the largest commuter in the world. I doubt any armchair athletes here would treat or pay their contemporarys any different...probably worse.
When all the good pilots were offered jobs at the next level of the industry they moved on and recalled how they paid they're dues.
The rest just whine...and it's reflected in their work...they suck at it.

I have considered the idea of starting my own small airline and am now 1 airplane closer to that goal. If materialized, my first question to a perspective pilot will be: 'Why do you come to me?'

Before you all get bunched up about this, consider the source.

ATW is an airline management newsource. They are awarding this award based upon a management perspective. Mesa has been able to make huge profits and expand it's reach on the backs of it's employees. It's managements wet dream.

Mesa is not the largest "commuter"...just the closest to the bottom feeder.

Believe me when I say that nobody is more in disbelief about this than the Mesa Pilots themselves.

how is mesa the largest commuter in the world? how many aircraft doesmesa have compared to xjet or eagle, i know that xjet has over 250 jetsand eagle and over 300, how many does mesa have?

Type of Aircraft

mesa is such a great company that it has driven me and many others the he11 out of aviation completly. now that number 1 for you.

Furthers my theory that they hand this thing out every year to somebody different.

CHQ in '04
Xjet in '03

I've seen both these airlines thump there chest over this, but ifMesawins I think all should see this award is a F*CKING JOKE!!!

They hand this award out to anybody. Think about it, it wouldn't make sense to give it to the same airline year after year. I just laugh at the people that think this is a big deal.

Mesa winning atw's airline of the year award ranks right up there with AWA winning the J.D. Powers award back in 1999 during the height of the Franke EraWhat a joke...

Phxflyr:cool:

The best part is....I won't have to buy any toilet paper this week! I just recieved my ATW! Now Mesa will be used right where they are suppose to be....like their Sh1tty Contract...in the toilet!! Nice Job!

Don't be fooled about what capitalism is all about.....to make money. Business is a cruel mistress. Costs are everything in this business. From the corporate leadership perspective, costs must be cut to the bare minimum in order to turn a profit in this lousy industry.

Mesa is expanding and profitable, which is indeed a minor miracle in today's airline industry. That's why they have been named regional of the year. The old days of the airline industry are gone. The only way back to that era would be for the government to step in and re-regulate the industry. It sucks for airline employees, but now **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED** near anyone can afford to fly. Instead of glorious globetrotting heroes, airline pilots will find themselves feeling more and more like bus drivers. That's a fact. Anyone who says differently is probably trying to sell you something.
