I have heard, over the years, that the Go operation is closing, and nothing has ever materialized. I have recently heard concrete evidence, that the Go operation in Hawaii is to be closed, near the end of the year, anyone hear similar?

That would require mgt making wise decisions.

Maybe the best argument that this may be true is that Hawaiian is acquiring 3 more 717's in the next 3 months.

If its "concrete evidence", then why ask????? Or did you mean, "unsubstantiated rumor"?

MESA SUCKS!

homerjdispatch,

I stand corrected. I heard an "unsubstantiated rumor." Yet, it was from reputable individuals. That being said, unless it's printed in the DOT statistics page, which is required prior to an airline seizing operations, it has yet to be seen.

Question was simply to see what the pilot community has heard.

I have also heard unsubstantiated speculation regarding the shuttering of Go!

Could the OP share more details such as there source?

Go! is simply a marketing brand operating under the Mesa Cert, so its demise may not require publication on the DOT record being it is not it's own certificated operator.

I have a buddy over there (Go) who heard enough believable rumors that we was convinced, so he quit and took a corporate job. FWIW

I am not an expert here, but go!/Mokulele is the only operation that Mesa has that operates its own schedule. There are DOT requirements for reporting passenger stats and I imagine if there were a notice requirement, it would apply. It would be interesting to see how Republic would deal with its interest in the JV. Would Mr. Boyer buy it back? What would happen to the Caravans? Republic still has a vacant hangar to deal with. Mesa would have helped itself better if it allowed Republic to stay and continue to drain resources. Looks like the opposite happened.

go!/Mokulele missed its chance to reorganize during the bankruptcy and may pay for it with its life.

Poahi,

This would mean they're only operating three aircraft in total, as I believe they were operating four previously correct?

No plans to close Go, we operate 5 aircraft with 4 lines of flying. C checks scheduled through December so 4 aircraft and 3 lines until then.

The last time I talked to a pilot at go!, they were operating 3 lines of flying plus a spare. September bookings usually fall off a cliff, so I don't know for sure if that has changed.

Why they would send an aircraft to VCV in the middle of a busy holiday weekend is beyond me. And stopping in LAX instead of direct PHX is unusual. Maybe it was winds, or maybe they didn't have all the ferry tanks installed.

I count 44 flights today, arguably one of the busiest days in a while. Looking at the departure times, you could operate 3+ aircraft to make the schedule. The last flight to LIH departs at 17:51.

The Go! jet that went to VCV is getting paint for USX. It will serve out the rest of the USX contract. No plans for a replacement AC out in HNL have been announced yet.

In other news Mesa purchased an old Skywest 200 last week. It is reported to be a parts plane, joining a Mesa 200 withdrawn from service and currently serving in that same role. They'll both need flat beds to get out of PHX.

To the contrary I have heard things that might happen that spell the end for Go!.

It is only going to fly for UX for several weeks then into C check then back to Hawaii depending upon the wind down schedule for the 200's at airways? In December Go will be back to 4 lines of flying and 5 aircraft.

Update:

Mesa operated four planes under the Go banner, as of recent.

One aircraft was sent back on Saturday, as posted by Poahi with flight aware tracking, thank you. In addition, one plane is cannibalized on the ramp in Honolulu. That leaves two operating aircraft in total.
