I normally don't agree nor respond to anything Ponoco Pilot has to say. But I'm afraid I have to agree with her, him or she or he on this one.

Like every other business in this country, it's becoming about making the rich even richer and nothing else. They really could careless if everyone gets the service they deserve or desire. They could careless if employee groups fight like cats and dogs through eternity. In fact it works in their favor. Life couldn't be better for the rich ie.. the shareholders.
 
I dont think the Govt would approve a UAL/DAL merger because the resulting airline would be too big. I'm guessing 14,000 pilots or so. On the other hand, NWA/DAL might be possible with minimal reduction in total capacity due to minimal overlap.
 
Neither of these matter when there is money to be made.

Heck, safety doesn't even matter all that much anymore if it means turning an extra buck. LOL
