Sounds like I struck a nerve. Kind of of delusional thinking that nobody should post about "other" airlines on a web board for all airlines.

Simple fact is USAir has a LOT of legal baggage that would be brought to a merger. It would be illegal for a BOD of a healthy airline to subject itself to that and OK a merger that would turn a healthy airline into a unhealthy airline. Which would happen if anyone were to merge with USAir and subject itself to the legal mess USAPA has created.

Sorry, just stating the obvious.

Nope - didn't strike a nerve - but I could also go on and on about the ups and downs of a certain island airline also - but i didn't reply to your post to insult - just to say be happy with what you have and don't worry about USAPA

And by the way - not to scare you - but I also heard a rumor about your airline merging with another ("unhealthy" airline - whatever you define that as).

Southwest would own SEA within 5 years....no make that 3 years.

Maybe even two. One example how BOD's have to consider the ramifications of accepting any merger offer. I'm getting a sense that there are pilots in the USAPA leadership ranks that spread these kind of rumors for whatever reason. Perhaps to try and mask there many failures or somehow cover up the fact that they have made no gains for it's membership?

LOL I've heard it too (from highly unreliable sources) and I also am privy to info that proves it would make it even harder for USAir to merge with us than even AK.
Dream on!

Not to worry.

East + West = Unmergable

Buck up Skippy! We have already merged (we just aren't flying together yet). It's comming down the pipe. I heard that Cleary was humming to tune "Renegade" by Styx the other day.........

Is Alaskan ALPA? Could Alaskan not just vote out USAPA and start with a fresh Union and fresh SLI/Contract negotiations?

Not that easy. You would have a representation election. ALPA and USAPA would be on the ballot. Even with the combined numbers between AS and AWA pilots, the Easties would have the numbers to keep USAPA on the property.

This week will come and go without anything big happening concerning AS. They are doing great by themselves. I think Delta would lay an egg it anyone even thought about AS.

ALK ALPA would eat USAPA alive. It's much easier when you know with certainty you're dealing with a bunch of no integrity scum bags.

Probably not....in all their history(much like the french)they have never come across a fight that they would not run from...now the AS f/a's..(inventors of CHAOS)might be a whole nutha thing...

All right everyone.......Don't get your panties in a wad....I think the Alaska pilots would squash this merger (acquisition, buyout, stock trade, NYSE scramble, CEO Bone-Us, swap), whatever you want to call it, in a heart beat..

Really......no, I mean really!!!....Who TF would want to engage in years and years of litigation with USAPA and management to be associated with the most incompetent scumbags of an association that calls themselves a UNION who are the most self serving arrogant bastards, elitist MO FO's who are far more experienced pilots than any other carbon units than anybody on the planet.

The answer is NOBODY.....

Six years into this nightmare merger with the bottom of the toilet bowl piece of feces the AWA management thought was a Wall Street Golden Goose and where are we?? Nowhere...

Sorry........Ain't gonna happen

Capt....
