You should put yes next time and give us a pirep when you find out. I can't imagine a yes answer there having any pleasant results. I had a DUI over 20 years ago and I don't put yes for that. I figure they wouldn't be interested in that but if you put yes I had one last week then the fun would start. Also if you did have one and said no and they actually did the research and found out you did then the penalty whatever that was would most likely be more severe cause you lied.
Smoking pot, no way to prove it. But if you have ever had a DUI or other alcohol/drug conviction, there is a record, and the FAA does do random record searches to verify people aren't lying on their applications. I know of a guy who got a DUI before he ever thought about flying, he lied about it on his medical and got caught. Suspended his medical and his certificate for 60 days, just to let him know they knew.
Assuming you're no longer using, and have never been convicted, no party videos, pictures, etc, etc. It would be fairly hard to prove. Not including the hair folile issue.
Granted if you pop positive on a random, then your probably gonna be hating life, but then you dug your own grave so deal with it.
