Medical Question

I have a corneal ulcer. My vision in the effected eye is 20/15. Hopefully it will heal quickly, and be a done deal. Where can I find out if I need to report this to FAA, and if it is a disqualifier for a 1st class medical. Thanks.

How long have you had it? Do you wear contacts? Does it hurt a great deal?



These are important questions to distinguish its etiology or cause. If it's bacterial, as in Pseudomonas, it can become very aggressive in a matter of hours and ruin your chances of flying again.

DON"T MESS AROUND! Get it looked at immediately. It could be career changing if it isn't managed properly and quickly. If it hurts a lot, it is probably bacterial and needs to be addressed tonight!

I had it diagnosed from a opthamologist yesterday; I had no idea what it was other than a sore, red eye. I do not wear contacts, nor glasses for that matter. It is a mystery how it got there. Thanks for the advice, I am on the way to finding out what I need to do as far as the FAA is concerned. I agreee though if anyone ever has anything suspect with their eyes, do not fool around with it!! See a doctor immediately. I am glad I was not on a trip, otherwise I could have gone several days without addressing it.
