Does anyone know if having Gout will preclude you from getting a medical. I have developed this very painful and annoying malady, and I want to know if it ends my pilot hopes.

Any and all information will be greatly appreciated.

Boy can I feel your pain! I've been dealing with gout for over 20-years. The good news is that several often used meds are approved for flying once you have used them for awhile. Your AME can give you more info. When I get my medical now (1st class), all I have to do is mention "Gout-Previouly Reported" and the FAA hasn't had any heartburn about it.

Fly Safe!

Hey,

Thanx so much for laying my concerns to rest. I will definitely check with my AME and take it from there. I'm sorry to hear that you are a sufferer, as I wouldn't wish this on anyone. It is by far the most pain that I have ever had to deal with.

Again, thanx for the good words, and you keep flying safe.

Nufft.
