What types of airplanes does the Mayo Clinic have out of RST? Anybody know? Are they strictly air-med airplanes? Or do they have passenger configurations too?

I dont believe the Mayo owns any airplanes at all, maybe a helo or two, but you can hardly call a helo an airplane ;)

They use to use Native American as their "MedVac" and I'm not sure if that place is even in business anymore in the RST area. As far as pax go, they use some outfit out of Dallas I think.

If you are in the RST area drop me a PM, always cool to meet someone from FI.

Crap DC8 just spent 2 weeks sitting at the Garden Inn.

The italian place has good food though.

Native American is outta there! They have a new company in there now running a KA 90 and a Hawker. 3rd operation in as many years to be running the operation there. Job Security????????

That place will make you go break and die happy of 4 heart attacks in as many hours, lemme know if you are ever back in town.

The planes there are medical configuration only. AirMed took over the fixed-wing contract from Omniflight Helicopters (who still operate the helicopters). The Hawker is only there until AirMed can put a Citation on their certificate. I think that the 90 will be replaced with a 200. The pilots that wanted to stay when Omni left were hired by AirMed and they are interviewing to fill the other openings.

Know a friend thats over there apparently...

Currently have been running a Citation V and now have the KA90 in town with a Hawker 800. Apparently another Citation and a King Air 200 coming on shortly with plans for bigger (expanding international stuff ... more hawkers most likely).

Story I heard was Mayo has been looking for a company that could run a serious fixed wing department which apparently neither Native or Omni could do...thus the reason for the changes. Most of the pilots have been there for a few years regardless. No overnights...good pay...fun flying...etc.

The guy I know over there seems to be convinced that AirMed is there to stay and seems to be happy about it.

The Hawkers are EMS. The rear bulkhead of the baggage compartment has been modified and is removeable. There is a ramp system to slide the stretcher through the door and up to the stretcher base.

Somebody said they were looking at a GIII for the international stuff, or did they shoot that down with the Hawkers. I just know about the rotorcraft side. We fly our Navajo and King Air up there occaisionally and are talking about modifying a Challenger 601 as well to help them out when they need it. Omniflight runs the BK's and I think they are bringing online a EC-145, but that's just been a rumor.

I gotta wonder about your screen name and desired choice of outfits to fly for. Are you needing additional treatment?

It's just a name, thanks for your concern. No treatment required (or ever required).

Any updates on this thread? Did they ever get that 200? How does your friend like it there now? I realize it has been a while for this thread but enquiring minds want to know. ;)

He's still there and still loves it. 6 on 3 off still and has yet to see a hotel after 2 years or so. They have been operating a 550 (a II I think) and still a 90. New airframe is on the way now I think. The citation is going away and an ultra or a beechjet or something like that is on the way. Not sure which...just remember him talking something "new-ish" with glass and FMS. I havent heard talk of the 90 going away soon, but lots of talk about the company growing etc. so I think he is still hopefull for a 200.

I guess AirMed just won the Air Ambulance of the year award or something. The RST job is quite a bit different than the Hawker drivers out of BHM. They also are opening ops in Hong Kong and somewhere else. I guess they are doing well and growing relatively fast.

Fixed wing guys work for AirMed Intl.
Rotor wing guys work for Onmiflight.
All of them fall under Mayo Medical Transport or something like that.

Sorry I cant be more helpful.
