Looking for some info/help. Just got the call about the E-145 class for May 18th at CHQ being reduced. Unfortunately, I was "reduced" and put into a hiring pool. They didn't have any idea when the next E-145 class would be. Just looking for some advice/info on what to do next. Just turned down an interview a few days ago with Mesaba because I was in this class. Sit tight or start applying again??? Thanks.

Unless you are content with your current instructing job, then definitely keep sending out resumes and looking for interviews. And if you are still interested in CHQ, try to keep in touch with them, perhaps by updating your info/resume with them.

Good luck.

Maybe they'll put you in an E170 in the next class instead. Continue to apply elsewhere but don't write off CHQ - you might get lucky with the E170...

I'd be calling Mesaba and asking if you could have another chance to interview. If they say yes I would hope to heck that I got hired there instead.

Yeah, I feel like a real bonehead now saying that I couldn't make the May 26th interview. Not the happiest camper right now. What would be the best way to get the Chief Pilot's phone number who called me? Just call the number on their website and ask to be transfered or what?
I can hear it now: "Uh...I'd like a chance to get that interview that I turned down like an idiot.....uh thanks...." Doh!!! Thanks for the help!

Did they tell you why? Looks like they are running classes in June...6/1 and even 6/12 for the 145. I'm sure you won't be floating too long...

And about Mesaba, yeah go for it if you got the time. They are a great bunch.

I'd be upfront. I would tell them that you had a class date elsewhere and did not want to waste Mesaba's time for an interview. Unfortunately that class cancelled and I am still seeking employment.

Be careful what words you use with the CP or HR people at Mesaba. You don't want to give them the impression that Mesaba is anything other than your top choice - no one likes to be the runner-up so to speak. And the fact that you are making the effort to get back in contact with them might impress the Mesaba folks, too.

If I knew I wouldn't be floating for long I would just wait it out. They said that their sim schedule was all out of whack. I would say it's probably due to the 170's needing to be coming online soon. I'm not too bumed out, just wish I knew for sure what was going to happen. I wasn't aware of a June class for the 145, and they told me to update my resume and that they would let me know if/when I get placed into a class. I don't have the min. of 300 multi for the 170 so that isn't an option. They couldn't even say for sure if I would be put into the next class...that kinda concerned me. Amazing how fast you can go from cloud 9 to the ground! Thanks for the help.

On aviationinterviews it shows a guy in a 6/12 class (145). Hang in there. I can imagine their sims are getting USED. Who did you talk to?

You're in a heck of a position compared to the people just trying to get an interview.

Hang tight. Go fishing. Grill out...relax. I know guys that swam the pool 6 months waiting for comair, while other people started running to coex and skyway. Some of them are happily flying the 145, some are kicking themselves really, REALLY hard, some are really glad to be at comair.

I doubt you'll be in this "quazi" pool for more than a month. Keep your options open, but don't jump ship.

Don't go to Mesaba, you would have a good chance getting on the Saab, unless they are hiring into the CRJ only. Take a jet---props are for boats. ( I flew plenty of props--DO-228, E-120 etc)

I agree. Hang tight. The rapid growth at CHQ is worth sticking around for right now. I don't think you are going to find another regional with more growth potential.

You should probably bail. Anyone that is willing to jump ship at the first sign of a bump in the road (which is more like a pebble) will not instill confidence in the guy/girl sitting next to you in the cockpit. If you're that young and inexperienced in the aviation field to ask this question, I'd hate to see you having to wait in a UPS, Southwest, and the likes pool. You'd drown yourself from a panic attack. Build some character, enjoy the swim, it will be a quick dip.

Thanks for the advice...I'll call on Monday to bail. Seriously though, thanks for the info from the other people. I realize I am new to this aviation stuff and this is only a minor setback. I'll keep my options open and hope for the best. I'm just not the most patient person in the world, though I am a good swimmer!!!

Agreed!! Chill the F out man...... CHQ is getting 170s for next 2 years and 190s in the future... Which company do you think?? Good Luck

Of course! I bash CHQ because I'm right about that crappy outfit and they deserve the bashing. I know many CHQ pilots and they are all idiots. I've seen their antics while out flying. I've heard their radio calls. I've read the posts on their forum. All point to Douche City.

I feel it's my civic obligation to warn would-be pilots to avoid Chaniqua at all costs.

Or you could just view my posts as typical message board flame bait.... you be the judge.

I hope you are being facetious! Just because they postponed your class a few days or weeks does not mean you should quit...you'll be in class sooner than if you sent out more resumes and waited for interviews and waited for class again. It is just a small bump in the road.

Don't let Tina Fey's Scar worry you any, just because she/he interviewed and crashed the FTD during her/his interview she/he is mad. I'd say 99.99% of people at Chautauqua are not idiots as Tina Fey's Scar suggested...HR does a great job of keeping them out, for example Tina Fey's Scar not being employed.

RAH's Shuttle America and Republic Airlines, not CHQ, are getting EMB170's (and possibly EMB190's for Shuttle Amer). CHQ is getting out of the 70 seat biz due to scope limitations. This was said by Mr Bedford himself in his weekly update.

Republic Airways Holdings

CHQ Airlines (ERJ140/145)

Shuttle America Airlines (EMB170/190)

Republic Airlines (EMB170)

Yeah SA is flying the big iron... you plane chasers chose the wrong sleazeball outfit to fly for.

Apply to Mesa! They will be flying 737s soon!!!!! Oh yes!! Anything to fly a bigger plane!! I will fly it for free!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FYI I work for United. I am a flight attendant.

RAH pays industry average for 70 Seat pay. The work rules are pretty good also. (not perfect and a far cry from a major)
The FA's have it rough, their pay is crap.

Lol...I'm not bailing, I was just joking. I'm just patiently waiting for my phone to ring with some good news. Hopefully it isn't long.

Yes, but CHQ does the hiring for all 3 now.

You're just a looser! It figures that at **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED** FA is running their mouth about something they know nothing about. BTW, How are the FA's doing at UAL? ooppsss.........ssshhh

CFII Don't sweat it. They same thing happened to me. I was suppose to be in the E145 class on the 18th, but they switched me to the May 12th E170 SA Class. Then I was called and told they were 1 over in that class and I had to be removed. I was then moved to the May 23rd E170 SA class, about a week after that move I was called and told my class had been pushed back to May 31st and It would now be a Republic class. So thats were I am now. Republic holdings companies are doing great things, hang in there!

Careful about that attitude with FA's, you know you'll have 2 to deal with flying that 170 of yours.

That plus I dont think TF's S is an actual FA. You've been Punk'd.
