Hello all, I know its a stupid question but, what is the difference between max continuous and max cruise thrust, and where would you find that info? thanx.

My mouse control has a mind of it's own right now so I can't pass you the link. Do a web search for maximum continous thrust and maximum cruise thrust and that will lead you to the definitions.

I can tell you how we use it in the Astra. After the takeoff power is reduced we set maximum continuous in the climb. We maintain that until we level off and attain the cruise speed we expect to reach. At that point we reduce to maximum cruise thrust and retain that throughout the remainder of cruise flight.

If you need more information on climb profiles I can give that to you both the procedures taught at FSI and what really works the best in the Astra Classic.

In the ERJ, Max Continuous Thrust is for "one engine inoperative" situations only. Cruise Thrust is just a reduced power setting (down a few max N1 points from CLIMB thrust, which is a reduction down from CON and/or Reduced/Maximum T/O Thrust). Most of it is for engine wear and tear reduction, plus the fact that one doesn't need as much thrust in cruise as in climb or OEI.

Clear as mud? :)
