Don't stay at a hotel at Maui unless you want to dump an enourmous amount of cash. Maui is VERY expensive. There are plenty of condos that you can rent for a fraction of the price (less than 200 per night right on the beach). All the good (not awesome) hotels are going to be 400 a night easily.....and a good walk to the beach. Stay somewhere near Kaanapali or Kihei (spell??)

in Kihei, there is a condo place called Kamaole Nalu it is on the beach, right across the street from Denny's and they give a Delta discount. 1 Week 2 bedroom condo fully furnished, no A/C but the tradewinds do just fine, 1100 dollars. Rate depends on the season, this was in Nov.

check out outrigger resorts (if i remember correctly) there's a place on their website to go if you're airline for the discount. very reasonable, and they have a few resorts on different areas of the island.

disclaimer: i haven't stayed with them, but researched them for a previous stay which we didn't make.

Try Napili Sunset. It's north of Lahaina and south of Kapalua. I've stayed there and it's across from Napili bay. It's a simple place - it's a studio with full kitchen - , clean, AC, pool and nice staff. Can't beat the price.
