Say a Masaba Avro in DSM today at the gate ,with what look like a nose wheel not down. Any info? (looked like it happened at the gate)

Was the Avro literally on it's nose or was the nose on a jack?? DSM is a pseudo maintenance base at night for our Avros.

I was about 5 plane lengths away and it was on its nose, at the gate with the jetbridge up to the aircraft.?

Interesting... usually word travels fast at Mesaba High School. I'm surprised nothings been mentioned at the cafeteria table.

The mechanics working on the plane f***ed up and accidentally raised the gear on the ground. They had pulled circuit breakers or something like that. The mains did not retract because of the weight of the plane, but the nose gear did retract. The plane would have fallen on its nose except the door was caught on the jetway, thus have the plane appear to hang in mid-air with the nose gear up. They later jacked it up and got the gear back down. It did have a crease in the metal but they were able to ferry it to Calgary for repairs.

Man! those are some strong hinges on the door! It's that British over engineering I guess. I wonder if they'll treat these mechanics like they treated the MEM ones?
