Somebody told me Martinaire pilots can jumpseat with an airline but he did not recall which one. Can they jumpseat and f they can, with whom?

So that is for a fact, or is it one of those " I have to talk to the captain before the flight thing?"

ummm...its a fact, but you still have to talk to the captain before...why wouldnt you

I jumpseated almost every weekend on SWA when I flew for martinaire. You just need to sit in back. Martinaire is not part of CASS.

I fly 135 EMS. I have successfully jumpseated with SWA only in Burbank. Everywhere else the counter folks won't even give me pass to see if I can get to the gate and talk to the captain. How do you get around the counter folks? I still need a pass to go thru security and to the gate, right?

isnt that just standard procedure and etiquette for any jumpseating, to introduce yourself to the captain and let him approve you?

Ok...its not that I don't want to introduce myself to the captain, or say hello or anything...My problem has been GETTING TO the captain. So again...I am not trying to be rude, or not go with protocol....I'll say hi to the captain, the fo, their spouses, all the FAs, their spouses, whoever....I don't mind talking to anyone and being polite,(heck, I have bought cinnabuns or coffee for the whole crew just because they let me jumpseat) I don't mind following protocol, procedure, whatever. So if you read this right, my point is that I can't get to the captain because I need a boarding pass to get thru security. At Burbank, I have had no problem...I usually ask the counter person that I would like to jumpseat and need to speak with the captain. They give me a pass as long as a security person or an SWA person escorts me to the gate, which are not too far from the security checkpoints. At other places, it has been impossible to get the counter people to give me a chance to even talk to the captain. AGAIN..for those who are getting offended here, I am not trying to NOT introduce myself to the captain, I just need info on how to get to him/her.

I currently fly for Martinaire, and we can jumseat on SWA anywhere. We aren't on CASS, so we can only take an empty cabin seat. Call the jumpseat number, or get a pass from the ticket counter to get throught security, then ask the gate agent.

Ocasionally I've had to wait out a full flight, but not often.

PS, We have two open runs in Hilton Head, and Key West. PM me if anybody's intrested.

so...why do you care about MRA's jumpseat if you dont fly for MRA??? if you are an MRA employee, you would not need to ask these questions.

..."getting around" the counter is not the purpose of the agreement and could jeopordize the entire system :angryfire

Perhaps because I have an opportunity to fly for them. And since I don't fly for them yet, I need to ask these questions. I am not trying to jeopardize the whole system. NO NEED FOR ALARM, kingairyahoo! Relax! I am not trying to "get around the counter," for anything but a ride home... but I have had difficulty getting to the Captain because I fly 135 and my company is not on the list. Hence the questions about how do I get to the gate, whether Martinaire is on the jumpseat list etc. Relax...just trying to figure this out . I know some of you are experts at doing this, however, I, a newbie, am learning the ropes.

alright then...yes MRA is allowed to ride along. they were one of (if not THE) first to utilize it after 9-11 since the two head honchos of the respective companies have known each other since their fledgling days at love field. to use the term "jumpseat" is misleading as you are not allowed in the cockpit, you ride in da' back. it is also not a problem to "get to the captain" as you have an employee number on your badge which is referenced during the process.
...cheers :smash:
