For most of us the sound of 4 Wright 3350s pounding away has been substituted by the whine of turbines, but this video captures a moment in time in history when this sound was commonplace. Sit back and enjoy.

ps. that monster looks slow as h*ll, doesn't it?

GO to Sprout Lake, Vancouver Island and talk nicely to the great guys who operate these two awesome machines, and you may get a ride...Like I did.

Great Machines.

I'm sure they are great machines, but this video ought to finally settle it.

The Merlin-powered racers are much faster than the R-3350 powered birds around the course.

thanks a lot for that video, i enjoyed it. there's something about that sound that's always gotten my blood flowing.

Got to sit in the cockpit of one of the two of them while visiting family in Port Alberni back in 1997 when I was 10 years old. What a cool aircraft.
