From where I sit in Houston, Martinaire has a good reputation...nothing great nothing bad. Just solid people doing their job. They have been around a while.

Yes, the standard 135 mins., more if you want...i have talked to former CFIs going there.

google "Martinaire interviews", may help.

Word on the street is they just "furloughed" some floaters out of seniority...

Be careful of their CP, one day he's your best friend and the next he's leaving messages saying he is going to kick your ass!

MRA was good to me, but that was a long time ago in a galaxy far away. If your looking for some good and quick turbine PIC time, then go for it. If your looking for something for the longterm, then just move on.

Martinaire

Great bunch of people to fly for, as for the furloughs, I dont know. We did just hire someone last week. Maintenance is priority as it should be,we are a certified caravan MX center. I have been with them a couple of months and flying my a@# off which I love, and the best part is turbine PIC.

You don't know a guy there by the name Brad L. i think started a couple of months ago do you?

any info on Martin Aire in addison, TX. good, bad or ugly?

thanks for the info

The caravan is a fun airplane to fly!! I loved it, if I found a job that paid me enough to fly one I would sit there for ever! I really enjoyed flying freight. I really think it's a million times than flying pax! my opinion. The MX is pretty good, they still try to cut some corners but all you have to do is stand on you ground and you should be ok. Pay isnt to bad, more than most regionals.
That was the good stuff.

The bad part of the company...well, the CP is a complete snake, run a search on Martin Aire and you will see what the folks have to say about about the CP. The guys is this short prick that acts as you friend the first time you meet him and then will F U over. Secondly, dude...yeah the caravan is Turbine time, but I wouldnt consider it the best turbine time...WHY YOU ASK?
number one it's single engine turbine time that will really only get you a pilatus job (not many around) Caravan time will not get you a PIC jet job or even a King air PIC job. I have a friend that flew there, has 3000 hrs total 1800 PIC in the van, and like 100 multi.....the poor guy can get anything better than a Regional FO job or a PIC Multiengine piston job. So dont get to hung up on the PIC caravan time, it really is worthless....it will increase your total time but, just because you have a big turbine engine in the front and you're bearly breaking 150knots it wont get you another great paying turbine job.
Good luck

I'll second what Flybet3 said about the Caravan pros/cons. Awesome airplane and loved every minute of it (except loading, ugh), but it won't get you too far careerwise. I had to leave that job and do some piston twin freight before getting a King Air job. Made it all worth it though. I never worked for MRA though and couldn't tell you anything about it.

Go to caravanpilots.com and you may get some response there. I have a buddy thats been with Martinaire for about 4-5 years he seems happy. Other than that I don't know anything about them. A caravan is a super airplane, I loved flying it. Be careful around ice !

Exactly.....
Like I said if there was a 60K a year caravan job somewhere I would take it. Hey caravan man, you loaded your own freight??? you did an airborne express run huh? or UPS maybe. I had a DHL run, and it was loaded for me. If you do get a caravan job with MRA the only way that job will be a great job is for the CP not to F*** with you. If no one ever messes with ya, you will love the caravan job. Unfortunatly while that short prick is of a CP is there, he'll find a way to pizz you off!

ok, so good co. but how do i stay away from the CP can i live far enough away or do something special to keep him off my back

well like I said, that would be the best thing but can you actually do it...probably not. The only thing you can do is do your job as best as possible and do not, I repeat do not breat any regs . What I mean by that is...I have a friend that flew there, great pilot and great employee. The tried to call him a couple of times while in rest and he didnt answer the phone. So this tiny sh!t bag of CP called him and left a nasty voice mail message. My friend called him back and told him that if he every bothered him again while in rest and threatened his job again he would contact his friend in the FAA and fry his ass!! after this the CP hated my friend and was always trying to find ways to get the guy fired. Never succeeded though! My friend had 7000 hrs then so he was very experienced, usually low time instructors are easy bate for MR. Bates (CP)

pay is 1850/mo 1 yr contract no use staying one day longer than that get your time and go somewhere else. and dont believe any storys about getting twins, from the CP or Minnie me

Yup, Flybet, we loaded our own...UPS run. I worked for Planemasters flying a 'Van. The last route I was on was pretty easy though: about 100-200lbs at night, then about 1000lbs average in the morning. Very, very light loads so it wasn't too bad!!

Vallyman, I don't know if you're open to moving or if you're looking at MRA if they're close to you, but check out www.planemasters.com because I talked to a buddy of mine who's still there and their business is growing. I guess they've added a few runs lately, not sure where, but it was a good company when I was there and the pay wasn't too bad; good planes too. 4-day runs started $28k/yr and 5-day runs started at $30k/yr, health ins @ 90 days. Pretty decent pay for a Caravan unless you're on the FedEx side of them.

No no no... I was talking about Planemasters, not MRA.
