I was on base this morning to work on a few things with my recruiter. I have the same stamp on my I-FC1. The MFS (Medical Flight Screening, I think) thing just indicates that they are gonna check ya out one more time before you start UPT. I guess if you lose an eye or an ear or something they wanna know about it. It shouldn't be as in-depth as the first medical screening... just a once over to make sure nothing happened to you between the time you got your medical and the time you start UPT.

Hi Guys

My first time back on here since I started OTS. Even though, the PC we do is NOT demanding, do your best to be in shape when you get here.

What's tough for our class is that they keep cancelling PC because of the record cold weather. Unlike most other classes, our PC is at 1600. I'm sure they will go back to 0500 when the weather warms up.

If the weather was nice for an entire week we'd run M, W and F and do Muscle Strengthing Exercise on T and Th.

We start out with about 10 different stretching exercises. If we're running then we go to the (very cushy, easy to run on) track and run 1.5 - 2 miles as a class.

If we're doing MSE then the PC instructor guides us through a dozen or so sets of pushups (regular, narrow grip, wide grip and diamond), squats, crunches, sit-ups, etc before stretching.

There's no one on you making comparisons with their grandma if you can't keep up.

During PC you will do sit-ups alone, but on the PFT you will have someone to hold your ankles (which makes them easier to bang out).

I did all of my pre-OTS running on a treadmill and made sure I could do the PFT run in my age bracket before I got here.

All in all, I would not say OTS is tough. It's just busy. Take everything 1-day at a time, study hard, work with your flight and the time will really fly by. When the going gets rough just remind yourselves that as Reserve Pilots we have THE BEST jobs in the AF when we're done.

PM me if you're going to be in OTS 03-05 and I'll look you up when you get here.

SONIC-
Do you think your unit will be sending you to C-141 school after SUPT, or will they just send you off to C-5's? Any idea when Wright-Patt is getting them?

Skyward-yea I checked that site out. BTW I found this guys OTS website yesterday, it's the most in depth journal I've seen on the web.

I've been reading this guys site. It does have alot of tips on what to expect at OTS. But this guy is a dork (putting it nicely). Take half the things he says with a huge grain of salt.

Best of luck to you.

Yea I agree that guy's about as cool as cancer but there are some good powerpoint slides and some other stuff that you can study a little before you go and give yourself a head start.

Did no one mention this guy also QUIT after the first week...give me a break how could you go through so much BS to get there then bail in a week. Read his excuses for quitting, they are hilarious.

The only thing worse than a quitter is a quitter who blames everybody else except himself for quitting. This guy makes me wanna puke, but he does have some valuable info on his site. Just my $0.02.
