I just got word that my I- FC1 has finally been approved and is in the mail to my recruiter as we speak. My recruiter was under the impression that we are now to send my completed packet to the unit that is sponsoring me, however I thought my recruiter is supposed to send off everything to the board along with the letter of rec from my unit. Anyone, anyone.. Bueller?? I dont wan this to get screwed up at the last minute.

airgator:

What's an I-FC1? I'm going down the final stretch myself to get all the paperwork stuff outta the way so I can play in Uncle Sam's KC-10s. Let me know what you find out in regards to your question.

The way I did it was my Unit did everything, not some recruiter with his head up his ass...If the unit wants you they should be all over this!

Vandal:

Good to hear from ya again, man! When are you off? My recruiter and I have been working as a team with McGuire to get stuff taken care of. Basically, he has a list of forms, we send that to McGuire for their signatures, etc. We collect all of it to prep a package to send off. I guess airgator and I are wondering if it should be sent directly to the board people or via our respective units. BTW, do you know what an I-FC1 is?

I have got it all taken care of now. My unit is taking care of everything and they will be submitting it for me. There is one lady at the base that takes care of all UPT packets to the reserve board so she knows exactly what to do and what protocol to follow. BTW by I-FC1 I meant Initial Flying Class phyisical.

Remember..recruiters (reserve and active) handle mostly enlisted recruiting. The reserve recruiter responsible for our area had little (if any) clue on the officer process. We had to get a recruiter in another AOR to help with guys trying to get into our unit.
We're a fairly new reserve unit and we've finally got to where we have the process down on getting guys in. But, we're a unique unit and do not deal with SUPT candidates.
Congrats on getting through the EKG on your flight physical :D
and good luck!

heya skyward...Starting OCS in may. Meanwhile just been slumming pumpin gas at the local fbo.

Halfway through UPT you will realize all the BS you've put up with up to now was worth it...keep the faith...

You need to run 2-4 miles every other day and do lots of push ups and sit ups, too. Don't show up not ready to rock. Now is not the time to get fat and/or slow.

On my physical, the stamp says "Medically qualified for FC1 (Contingent upon passing MFS prior to UPT)" - Is that the standard stamp or do you think they will retest my eye accomodation again at Brooks. (I failed the accomodation test the first time but was retested). I know accomodation is usually not tested at Brooks.

I have yet to receive a training date, but I expect to get one in April. I'm hoping it will be soon. Been getting in the routine by doing push-ups, sit-ups, and running about 3 miles every morning at 5am. Now all I need is some dude yelling at me to do it all faster and screaming about how much better his grandma is than me. ;) j/k Are you going to the 12 week program for OCS? Good luck, dude. I hear ya on the slummin thing. I'm getting sick of this CFI gig.

Airgator:

Thanks for the clarification on I-FC1. I'd never seen it written out like that. I don't know much about the medical process. All I know is mine is complete with no problems. I guess it would be best to ask your POC (that's Point of Contact) at your unit. Are you trying to get stuff in for the very next board? What's your equipment and component assignment?

Lata!
