Anyone who was called for this class, please let us know your interview date!!!! Also, how many are in the class?

Thanks,

Givvit

Talked to Kim the other day she advised me AS of right now meaning monday, there are no other classes scheduled for March, but that can all change very fast, I guess will have to take it week by week, hoping sooner than later! we'll keep our fingers crossed.

If anybody remembers the class forecasts that Givvit & I were throwing together: they're already bogus. Our timelines put sept 20 & 21 in the feb 23rd class, not march. So I feel that any attempt to forecast (even very roughly) is highly unreliable. Dang. Sincere congrats to those called.

UH -- I don't think there is a Feb23 class. But if there were you would have been correct.

Actually, that was sort of my point. I guess I didn't make it too clearly. No Feb 23 class and looks like just one March class. It just goes to show that only SWA knows when they're going to do things, and it's hard to make any predictions. Thanks for the post, though.

SWA Class Estimate

I thought your effort to estimate class dates was great. How did you guys figure that out? It would seem another estimate using the reduced classes would be a good guess. Thanks / Old School

All we did was list interview dates & number of folks per day, and then listed hopeful class dates next to it. Everything was a (big) wag, and it's already a totally different landscape. We could do it if we knew when SWA was going to start classes, but without that it's simply a running tally of how many you think are in the pool. You can come up with a range of numbers there, too, so it gets fuzzier. But if you simply divide the number of folks you think there are above you in the pool by 20 (or whatever number you think will be in each class), then you have the number of classes that will start before you. Then put each of those classes against a date- be it the first three wednesdays or just the second monday (whenever you think they'll start classes) then you have a start date for yourself. Trouble is, it's going to change every singe time a class starts and/or doesn't start, so really you just end up writing down what happened, not what was going to happen. All in all, not much more than a waste of time. I prefer to sit and stare at the phone. Staaaaare at it. Both techniques will have an equal impact on getting you to class sooner!

Cheers!

To those of you who get the call...CONGRATS!! This place is absolutely awesome! I came over from the regionals and honestly say that I am living in a different universe now. You are going to love it! For those of you who didn't get the call yet...keep at it - it is worth every ounce of effort!

Keep the faith, it is only a matter of time. As was mentioned on the current UPS pool thread and on previous SW threads, you aren't hired until you are sitting in class. The good news with SW, apparently unlike UPS, is that once you are in the pool it is only a matter of time before you start class. Relax and enjoy your good fortune. At least you aren't going to get tossed out of the pool or bounced back by new swimmers, so you will get your turn.

I almost bought a house in Orlando when I entered the pool in Mar 02. Thankfully I read on this board after I came back from the house hunting trip that SW was going to slow down hiring and that there wouldn't be any classes for a while. A call to the fine folks in the People Dept at SW confirmed that there wouldn't be any classes for a while, but that my spot was secure.

I was able to retract my offer on the house (the bank didn't mind since I had to tell them I no longer had the job I thought I had) but the owners of course weren't too pleased, but I learned a good lesson from the experience. Don't chase domiciles and you aren't hired until you are in class.

25 long months later SW came through with a class date. Didn't work out because I had moved on to another job but it was very nice to know that SW stood by their end of the deal the entire time. They are a totally class act and it will be well worth the wait.

Good luck to the current and future poolies at SW.
