A 42-year-old Connecticut pilot was charged with flying under the influence of drugs last Wednesday, Sept. 15, after crashing into a hangar while landing at the Somerset Airport.
Law enforcement authorities said pilot Michael R. Foisie of Higganum, Conn., who was not injured in the crash that destroyed his $220,000 Cessna two-seater airplane and damaged two other planes, was also charged with illegal possession of a prescription drug, the tranquilizer Klonopin.

Somerset County Prosecutor Wayne J. Forrest said Foisie, a certified commercial pilot, was traveling to New Jersey to visit family members who live in Peapack.
According to the prosecutor, Foisie had departed from an airport in Hartford, Conn., at about 8 a.m. The crash occurred a little more than an hour later, as Foisie attempted to land the family-owned Cessna A185F at the Somerset Airport.
Police said Foisie landed his aircraft on the runway, then immediately veered off at a 45-degree angle through a grassy area, clipping the right wing of a Cessna parked on the ground and causing its wing tip to break off.
Foisie's aircraft continued traveling about 75 yards, crashing through the closed doors of a corrugated metal hangar and into another plane, a four-seater Comanche.
Forrest said the impact caused "extensive damage" to the $180,000 Comanche.
According to Forrest, Foisie was not injured in the crash and was able to walk away from the wreckage.
