Just saw that a number of international carriers (Speedbird, Qantas, Air NZ)prohibit male passengers from sitting next to an unaccompanied minor, and will in fact move the man to another seat. If no seats are available, they'll have a woman passenger take his place.

First YGBSM. Second, is this the policy at your airline? Thirdly, how fubar is our society when someone thinks this is necessary?

In groundschool we heard a word-of-mouth story about an Air Midwest B1900, with nobody but one male pax and one UM aboard. The crew closed the cockpit doors and bad things are said to have happened. We were simply cautioned to "pay attention." That was the extent to which it was covered at my organization. Nonetheless, this surprises me.

wait untill one of those chicks that would befriend a pregnant woman so she can kidnap her later to cut the baby out of her womb, figures out it's just plain easier to go the "frequent flyer" miles route and wait for a kid to be mandated to be placed next to her.

Yea, there are chicks like that out there.

if you had kids

Well it’s not a bad idea because the reality is that it’s exceedingly rare for a female to be a child molester / pedophile. In fact years ago I saw some cop type guy on Oprah and he said if there was one rule to give a lost child it would be to ask a woman for help, not a man. Probably good advice.

Actually, with all the high profile cases involving female teachers and their students, seems more likely that the females are just better at not getting caught.

I wonder if nancy grace will spotlight this.

I used to be a ramper/gate agent for two different regionals. I never heard of such a thing.

So, how do I get classified as an unaccompanied minor? Probably a little too old I'd suspect, but hey, always getting placed next to women sounds like a good thing to me.

Male w/ UAM?

What has this world come to? We have deffinitely gone way too PC these days.

BLing, nice Avtar

FlyF15, that is either a huge house or one tiny 172

I don't think PC'ness has anything to do with it.

The fact is, there are some lawyers whose only criterion in naming a party in a lawsuit is the depth of their pocket.

Now, with rampant bankruptcy in the industry, I might question the benefit of suing an airline but still, any company would be foolish not to take steps to protect itself from such liability.

In addition to this, I think from now on all primary school teachers should be female. After all, as somebody pointed out, it's exceedingly rare for a female to be a child molester/paedolphile.

Come on people, be sensible....where do we draw the line, eh?

I don't know what the policy is for my major airline.

I do know that I would refuse to send any of my kids "U.A." for any reason other than a serious family emergency.

Just recently, one of mine sat 10 rows back from me in a full flight, next to some 50-ish guy I didn't have a real good first impression about. Fortunately, he kept to himself during the entire flight giggling out loud while reading his paperback comic book.

FA's are generally pretty perceptive most of the time. A good many of the degenerates look/act goofy too.

Ive seen it done on a major, heard the FA's talk about it. They asked an elderly fellow to move since he was in an exit row then moved some people around with the excuse if anything happens we need this child close to the emergency exit. They were real sly about it and I wouldnt have even noticed if I didnt hear them.
