MAIR and NWA coming to the agreement is huge. The only
roadblock at this point would be the creditors committee and the
bankruptcy court, but both should greenlight this easily as long
as the creditord are getting the money and Mesaba is coming
out of bankruptcy.
I wonder how much they agreed to sell it for - whether the 145 million
original bid was upped a bit to appease MAIR.
With the sale to NWA, I think the more interesting question is
"How long before they announce 36 new jets to Mesaba?"
I bet the ink won't even be dry from the agreement.....
There are no other regionals being considered in the operation of regional feed for NWA. All jets will be operated by P, M, and C. The fate of the pilots and their ability to bid into slots at compass is unknown. However, a merger with delta may result in furloughs going to compass. Mesaba has won the RFP for the CRJ 900's pending the sale to NWA.
