I'm curious as to what others are doing to maintain proficiency in flying tailwheel and/or bush planes?
I own an FX3 for coming up on 3 yrs now and have 400 hrs in it. Living in MN we don't have a lot of back country places to fly to, so I've developed my own 90 day proficiency checklist but am would like to know what others are doing to keep on top of their game
Engine out landing from abeam the numbers and pattern altitude
Engine out to open field (climb out at 500ft)
Wheel landing w/ Flaps
three point landing w/ full flaps
STOL landing (steep stable approach, full flaps, 45mph w/power)
Spot landing STOL
Spot landing 3 pts
Spot landing wheel
Soft landing 3 pts
Cross wind landings
Night Landing for currency
Power off stalls (no flaps)
Power on stalls (no flaps)
Power on stalls (full flaps @ 1500rpm)
Slow flight (progressive to 45mph, full flaps)
Emergency canyon 180 turn @45 degree bank, min 75 mph no flaps
Emergency canyon 180 turn @45 degree bank, min 65 mph, flaps 1
Emergency decent from altitude to off field approach (simulate on board fire)
Impossible turn back at safe altitude (210 degree turn, note altitude lost and AC weight)
Dutch Roll
On ground - Emergency egress from cockpit
