I learned how to fly at 15 in a Luscombe 8-A with a 65 horse engine on a grass strip. We had no radios and no electrical, it had rag wings. I rented it for $5.00 an hour. I had a 100 hours before I ever flew an airplane that had radios. We called the airplane a Luscum as starving cfi said.In those days our minds were so pure we never even thought about the subliminal meaning.

My dad used to work on Luscombes in Texas way back in the day and he pronounces it Luscum. But then again he pronounces "oil" OHL.:D
