No I can't see any difference between those scenarios as far as logging SIC time is concerned.
The letter I posted is more specific regarding 135.101 (135 IFR requirement for 2 pilots) and 135.105 (the autopilot waiver)
Other than that, whats the difference? In one letter he says the SIC can log SIC time in a single pilot aircraft, and in the other letter says he can't.
