So many time I see threads from other pilot on how low time pilot are not ready to handle some of the aircraft that regional airlines have. Accidents happen no matter what your experience level or flight time is. Today's Comair crash was flown by experienced pilot, the captain was with comair since 1999 and the first officer since 2002 according to reports. Who knows, maybe a low time first officer may have caught the error on the ground, may not, but this just shows, any one can make a mistake.

Now is not the time. Stop grand-standing.

Your thread-starter is completely pointless speculation about what might have happened under different circumstances. A thousand things could have been different which might have prevented the tragedy, but weren't. What's the point of speculating whether a low-time FO would have made a difference.

Makes you feel better somehow?

ReverseSensing, I agree wholeheartedly that now is not the time. Our thoughts and prayers should all be directed at the people who died in the tragedy and the FO, whom we all hope will find a way to pull through.

That said, he makes a valid point. If God-forbid one of the crewmembers had happened to be a low-timer, a hundred flame-baits would have posted on this board every day for the next 20 years "proving" that low-timers have no place in the cockpit of a 121 operation.

Grab those reigns kid and pull those horses back a bit. You've got a ways to go yet.

I was wondering when someone would say that. Especially since Freedom has about 4-5 flights a day from LEX to ATL.

Don't let experience blind you. I know I am much less vigilant now than when I was a new-hire at the airlines. That is all going to change. Check, check again and recheck. Sometimes there are no second chances to get it right in this profession.
