After been searching for jobs, to see how the job market is, i have to say that it still looks like there are job's to get>>>
i went on the Internet for about an hour and hound 100+ jobs for pilots in the US alone......Lots of job pages and aviation pages have them posted and every thing from Instructor jobs/ Part 135 jobs and airline jobs.
So i think we still have a chance !!!! JIBIIIIII :)

Take a look at couple of sites that i went through if you are looking for a job.

www.aviationpilots.com

www.aviationjobsearch.com

www.climbto350.com

Great pages with lots of jobs on.......

Wow, there's flight instructor jobs now? I guess the economy must be recovered! That's just super; now I can go back to earning $700/month as a CFI.

On second thought, I hear Burger King's hiring...

Unfortunately, I can’t remember a time when flight instructing was ever a job that one could survive anymore then on a subsistence level.

Thanks for posting, from my perception, things are on the rebound. May not be booming, but it is a start up the hill.

Another sign of the 2007 hiring boom

This confirms the increase in column inches of Flight Crew Help Wanted ad seen in Trade-A-Plane as a sign of the impending hiring boom. Watch June 2007 in goiong to a banner hiring month.

Here is my take on things. BTW, I do not claim to be Miss Cleo! :D

As we have talked about before on this board, the best time to get hired is the middle of a decade. The bad times are in the beginning and the end of a decade. If you can get hired from years ending in 4,5,6 and the beginning of years ending in 7, you will be pretty safe from furlough.

I have been in the employment industry a total of about 21 years; either in a hiring capacity or the resume business. I have watched the cycles in the economy go up and down for over two decades and feel pretty comfortable making these observations.

I believe that the "recovery" of this industry is just starting. However, there has been some bad news lately with the furlough of more AA and now ATA pilots.

With that said, I believe in the "trickle up" theory here. When pilots leave to go to major airlines, it leaves spots open at regionals, which are filled by 135 pilots and flight instructors. The reason I believe there are so many flight instructor positions right now is because the spots are being vacated by movement in the industry.

One thing I caution all people in their careers; have a back-up. Get an education in something that will be a backup to your aviation career.

Many airline people do something on the side. We had several accountants, lawyers, people with handyman companies, etc., at my last airline. I always had my resume business concurrent with my airline job.

Was I tired? You bet. There were days that I was up almost 24 hours at a time because I would work all day in the office and then fly all night. But I always had something to fall back on when things went south. It was better to have done it when I was young, instead of doing it now.

I have just found that relying on anyone else in this world to feed my family was putting myself in a vulnerable position.

As I said, just my two cents...

Thomas n, dont let them get you down!!! if they all give up and quit, that will be less competition for you. companies are still going to need pilots to fly big, fast, planes. many of those pilots will be paid well. working your way up the ladder aint easy, but it can be done. hang in there.

now they will all turn on me.....

I believe it's "Newbies", not "Noobys".

"lost of jobs making less than 30K a year to start..whippie!"

Coming out of the ARMY 30k a year must be something to be "whippie" about, Or was it because you don't have to park your craft in front of a tent any more?
