I’m currently working on a research paper for my MBA on airline management. I wanted to include a page or two on the role Frank Lorenzo played in the 1980s. If anyone could suggest a book that includes this bit of history Id really appreciate it.

Thanks.

Grounded: Frank Lorenzo and the Destruction of Eastern Air Lines, by Aaron Bernstein.

Flying the Line, Vol. II, by George Hopkins

I second that

Hard Landing is an excellent read!
I am about 3/4 of the way through it and its really hard to put down.

The Airline Pride Almost Bought.

The name of the author escapes me.

The author was Michael Murphy. It was published in 1986 and is about Continental Airlines. I never read it so I can't comment either way on it.

Having been a member of ALPA I have read Flying the Line and Flying the Line II. Great reads, excellent background, and an outstanding "attempt" to tell it like it "was", but remember those books are biased and all that comes with that.

Frank Lorenzo

I second the book references provided above.

This page from PBS should also point you in the right direction.

Hope that helps. Good subject for your thesis, by the way.
