Another vote for Thinkpads. Even though they are no longer True Blue, one of the OEMs bought the line, so they are still durable. The latest/greatest X41 is a convertible laptop/tablet pc. The convertible is great for charts & weather if your regular panel doesn't already provide it.
Most of the small & light (X) line are under 3.5 pounds. Add the base and you see under 4 pounds.
