Hey guys....not sure if I'm 'posting' this correctly....or in the right place. Hoping to find some fellow Navy(or airline) guys from jetBlue to get an e-referral. Thanks!!
jointops, are you admitting that having an LOR plays a part in obtaining an interview, or are they only used, as the company continues to insist, during the selction process once a candidate is interviewed?
If internal letters of recommendation (or some other informal process) got folks of my chosing an interview, JetBlue would hire only F-15 dudes with bad haircuts. Just like me.
In short, if we could get somebody's name to the top of the interview invitee list, I'd fill our ranks with swarthy Air Force Eagle drivers. Given the JB system, I cannot do anything more than post an LOR in the system and wait to see if they get an interview based on their qualifications.
In short, I'm very happy with the overall mix of pilots JB hires, so I can't gripe about the process.
Gosh, no I didn't intend to imply that an inside LOR gets you an interview. In fact, if you read any of my posts or Eagleflip, Jeff G, DGS, etc. you'll note the consistency of our comments about the hiring process.
I was trying to answer the request made about a guy looking for buddies who could write him an LOR.
If you're uncertain as to our interview/hiring process, a search of the threads should explain it rather well. It's been covered numerous times and I won't expound here since that wasn't the intent of the thread. If you have questions, just let me know.
Once again, a consistent theme here is Everybody who's flying for JB seems to really enjoy working there..congrats.
Eagle Flip,
Don't forget the "not so swarthy" AF Tanker Pilots who want to join the JB club...it's a big ocean "aht there" (Pittsburghese) when you're heading East to demonstrate your skills/ defend the Constitution!
