Hey news flash sol, there are quite a large number of pfters currently on interview boards, at both regionals, and majors. I know 2 myself, both at majors. To add to that, both of these majors are the ones who now have the "industry leading" contracts
. They are not from gulfstream, but paid for their training none the less. There are tons of pilots who pfted. Not just from Gulfstream. Get with the reality program. Gulfstream is not the first and or last and or only pft airline. Just about all of the regionals were at some point. I was in a unique position, and have never had to pay for airline training. I have jumpseated and or sat in the cockpits of many majors, both in this country, AND in others. I can honestly say, I have only heard 1, and I will say again, 1, negative comment about pfters before. And it was from a junior fo. And believe me, the subject comes up, as my airline was at 1 time PFT, as was just about every other regional at some point. Many asked if I was lucky enough to not have had to pft. I answer politely, yes, I was lucky. I proceed to tell them what I did as my flying background.
The most common response from 99.99 percent of the pilots at these majors, is you do what you have to do to get a seniority number the quickest, as that is your life. This industry is not a polite deal where at the interviews, the guy in front of you says, "oh please, you have a wife and kids, you can have this job at Alaska, I'll grab the next one."
Aviation is the most competitive I have ever witnessed. Life is unfair, in this industry it helps to have money. Lets be honest, if your related to Bill Gates, I gurantee All the airlines will be knocking at your door. On the flipside, I know many people form Gulfstream who are far from rich. But quite the opposite and in debt for a long time to live our "(dream)".
