Hey news flash sol, there are quite a large number of pfters currently on interview boards, at both regionals, and majors. I know 2 myself, both at majors. To add to that, both of these majors are the ones who now have the "industry leading" contracts:rolleyes: . They are not from gulfstream, but paid for their training none the less. There are tons of pilots who pfted. Not just from Gulfstream. Get with the reality program. Gulfstream is not the first and or last and or only pft airline. Just about all of the regionals were at some point. I was in a unique position, and have never had to pay for airline training. I have jumpseated and or sat in the cockpits of many majors, both in this country, AND in others. I can honestly say, I have only heard 1, and I will say again, 1, negative comment about pfters before. And it was from a junior fo. And believe me, the subject comes up, as my airline was at 1 time PFT, as was just about every other regional at some point. Many asked if I was lucky enough to not have had to pft. I answer politely, yes, I was lucky. I proceed to tell them what I did as my flying background.

The most common response from 99.99 percent of the pilots at these majors, is you do what you have to do to get a seniority number the quickest, as that is your life. This industry is not a polite deal where at the interviews, the guy in front of you says, "oh please, you have a wife and kids, you can have this job at Alaska, I'll grab the next one."

Aviation is the most competitive I have ever witnessed. Life is unfair, in this industry it helps to have money. Lets be honest, if your related to Bill Gates, I gurantee All the airlines will be knocking at your door. On the flipside, I know many people form Gulfstream who are far from rich. But quite the opposite and in debt for a long time to live our "(dream)". ;)

[PFT'ers are right next to scabs in my book. What's frightening is that in the 1990's, I saw several startup supplimental airlines (passengers and cargo) unknowingly hire a scab or two to be their DO or Chief Pilot. Once you get one scab in a position to hire pilots, I guarantee you he will infiltrate the seniority list with his old stinky scabby buddies. One of my previous airlines had a scab DO and scab CP and they brought in all their scabby buddies, then I had to be stuck flying with them and hearing them bitch because they couldn't find a jumpseat to commute to/from work. hah, wonder why. My point is that in the event a PFT'er becomes a member of an interview board for a halfway decent airline, he'll recruit alot more of his rich PFT puke buddies./QUOTE]

In your opinion?? Who are you? Who died and left you in charge of the hiring at your airline? Or any airline for that matter? All your rich puke buddies!! I’m still trying to figure out who you are!!

I’ve watched this board for a couple of months now, but have resisted jumping in a fray like this. But this guy has sent me over the edge. Let me tell you about someone who has attended GIA. I’m not some rich kid, I’m in my mid 40’s, recently retired from the Air Force after 23+ years of service, including multiple tours of duty in the first gulf war, and in both current middle east conflicts was well as several other un-named or un-televised conflicts. I’ve had SA-6’s(shoulder launched missiles) fired at my aircraft, taken small arms fire, had to shut down engines because they were struck by small arms rounds and had to carry the injured and dead out of combat zones. All this while serving my country!!

Then I come home, put my VA benefits to work and the money I earned defending this country, only to have some snot nosed kid tell me I’m a commie scab because I attended GIA!! I invite you to walk a mile in my boots, to see where I’ve been. Who are you to call me names for using my money and my benefits? Just because I didn’t get my ratings the way you did, or got them in a way you would approve of gives you no reason to question or be-little me. It does say a lot about the person you are, (or not) that you would viciously attack someone you know nothing about. As someone stated earlier in this post, your narrow view and, your framed outlook on this subject is not shared by many. In fact the only time I’ve ever seen or heard of it being an issue is on this board, where spineless weasels can keep their anonymity. From my time in the military, I know dozens of pilots, from regional to majors, from cargo to corporate and none of them have ever had a negative comment about PFT.

Since I’ve been at my current employer I have never heard anything negative about PFT. As another person stated earlier, it does come up, and I tell the captain that I’m flying with. They ask the usual questions about the program and what I thought of it. By the end of the month, every capt has commented they’ve had fun and hope to fly with me again!! My interview was just like everyone else in the group I interviewed with. I was interviewed by a chief pilot and a senior line pilot. Did I get tough questions, you bet, they asked me questions about both airplanes, C-130 and the 1900.

I challenge you to spout off in public with your comments, the next time you are in your release room, maybe in the pilot lounge or when you are trying to jumpseat. Hey I have an even better idea. Why don’t YOU march into your chief pilots office, and demand that he/she no longer interview or hire PFT pilots. If you feel so strong and self-righteous about this, you should stand up and make a statement, so everyone can see who you are!!
