Hi all,

I'm planning a vacation this summer in July to Alaksa. I used to live in Kotzebue (30 miles north of the arctic circle) and flew a C-207 up there for a while.

Anyway, some friends are going to be in the Anchorage area and want me to fly them around.

I was wondering if anyone knew where I could rent/beg/borrow a C-207 to take them around in for a couple of days.

I have about 50 hours in a C-207 as well as about 150 hours of Alaska time.

Thanks!

I remember the sled.....

Good luck, I was born and raised in Anchorage, did all my flying there until coming to the regionals down south. I have NEVER heard of anyone just renting out 207's to just anybody. If you have a friend who has a friend or something like that mabye he'll let you fly it but there's nobody just renting them out. The best your're going to find as far as 'bore holes in the sky' rentals are going to be 172's at MRI. There's a couple of twins on the field to rent also but you have to take the CFI with you IF they aren't broke which they were last time I checked. Don't take this the wrong way but with 50 hrs in type and 150hrs of AK time, I would let you breathe on my 207. It's a lot of airplane espically if you haven't flown it if a while.

try Aero Tech

Aero Tech just added a shiny 207 to their Rental/Training Fleet.

They are based at MRI

Not sure what the price per hour is.... but after being checked out in their C177rg.... I know that insurance is a major part of their "rental policy"... so you can expect to have to pay for an instructor to fly with you..... for ~5-10hrs (maybe more... for the 207) before they will let you fly it LOCAL- DAY- VFR.......

you have to take written tests and extra flight training to be "qualified" to fly in "mountainous terrain", "winter", "NIGHT", "IFR", "cross country"... etc..etc...

Make sure you get the details before you head up here....

I'd check with your "connections".... see if you can arrange to "borrow" an airplane......

Good luck!
