How are you going to log SIC time in a single pilot aircraft? I know for a fact that Ameriflight is flying their Metros Single pilot, and the Aero commander is single pilot too. If they happen to have a person that paid to be in the right seat and they are over weight, they get bumped. Not exactly a required crew member. Just something to think about if you want to use that type of time on your resume.

flybet3,

you must've bought your job (if you even have one) somewhere along the way...
you sure are a bitter little man.

grow up

I must be getting older and slower, should've have seen this thread going downhill a lot sooner. That being said, go instruct for a while.

No my friend, I worked very hard for my job, paid my dues....I just hate it when dooshbags start puting people down b.c people decide to do things differently. I never bought my job, but i do know people that have paid for their own type or did the gulfstream thing and they worked just as hard to pass training and pass their interviews. So bite me DIC head.....secondly this little man could stump your A$$ in a heart beat....

People have a God-given right in this country to do what they think is best to further their career. Even if that includes dropping 10K+ to ride shotgun in something that burns Jet A.

In the same right, everybody else has a right to ridicule and malign that person for ultimately helping to keep the state of our industry in the SHATTER by paying hard-earned money to be a *required crewmember*. You know, you have to be there per the FARS...so you should be getting paid to be there, not paying to be there.

I know a former Gulfstreamer, he didn't get that magical job with Pinnacle and had to go out and get a CFI & CFII so he could put food on his table. Nice guy, but poor decisionmaking in my opinion. I didn't hold anything against him, he had enough problems as it was.

There are few shortcuts...well, at least for average white guys like myself. Be prepared to live with the consequences of WHATEVER decision you ultimately make. And good luck...

...

That is PFT. Buying block hours is different. Sitting right seat at Ameriflight isn't taking a job from anyone. We fly single-pilot and will bump right seaters for freight.

Flybet why so defensive, do you really have to stoop to name calling because someone knocked P.F.T., if you felt you had to pay for it, well that was your chioce. I've paid for it before,....well not for flight time anyway.

That hurts, man!

Anytime you see the word "Program" in aviation, what it actually is, is a program to separate you from your money

i got to thinking the other day about the character from the TV show Crank Yankers, Special Ed, and how thrilled he'd be to be in aviation...couldn't you see Ed going into an interview, "Mr. Special Ed, where'd you get your turbine time?"
"I got PFT, YAY!!! I'm Ed, and i'm an alcoholic. You go sir."
"Thanks Ed, that was rather interesting and informative."
