Anyone on this forum know of or have had experience with a flying club near HFD where I could rent a plane for a weekend trip with only a week or so notice and also avoid the painful min hrs/day? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

It's been a while since I've flown out of Brainard but back in the day there was a flying club there that had a pretty nice Cardinal and Archer. I think membership was somewhat limited, but they were pretty good. There also was another club that wasn't as restricted on membership, but the plane (C172) wasn't as nice.

Either way, they had schedule books at the FBO front desk (used to be Million Air, now under a different name, Atlantic?) so you should stop by if you're in the area. They might be able to point you in the right direction. A second flight school opened up on the north side so you could check with them assuming they're still in business. (HFD has gotten a lot quieter since I worked there.)
