China defends pilot of crashed airliner

China defended the captain of the Air China aircraft that crashed in South Korea last week, saying he was an experienced, well-trained pilot with more than six-thousand hours flight time in the Boeing 767.

The official Xinhua news agency has issued a detailed background report on pilot Wu Xinlu, who survived the crash, saying he was respected and admired by his colleagues and looked sharp in uniform.

The fact that the crew had the cabin brace before impact indicates it most likely wasn't CFIT, esp. since visibility was near zero...

Can't really imagine other possibilities though. Had to have been a big failure, or some other big error on the part of the crew.
