It is however, a powered-launch glider. It launches with 5 engines: two full-thrust-only engines, and three throttlable engines, however upon launch, the former are discarded, the latter's fuel tank is discarded, precluding restarts, all landinge are unpowered, with no go-around possible.

Ummm, is "throttlable" actually a real word. Say that 5 times real fast.

At Oshkosh, Mike Melvile said all three SpaceShip One pilots had to go out and get glider added to their commerical tickets in order to fly SS1, which is registered as a powered glider.
