I have seen some info on how to log IMC, PIC ect.. but nothing regarding how to log flight time over all.

Do any places, specifically NetJets, care how all my flight time is logged? I am a bit behind and need to catch up. I was planning on doing a monthly log of flight time. Would this be detrimental to me in an interview?

Thanks for the info.

Yea, one line per month.

I work for a regional, fly 5-6 legs per day and 60-90 hrs per month, and have gotten way behind. I don't have the time to log daily and a quite a few guys I know log their time at the end of the month. But I have heard rumors that some companies don't like to see flight time logged that way.

Just thought I seek some info from a recent interviewee or current NJ Pilot.

Thanks

The aircraft idntification is going to change regularly, so I would suggest not logging by the month. If you tried to, you would need a huge a/c ident section!

Also the FARs state you must log by the date. To me this would mean the day, not the month. Refer to 61.51

(b) Logbook entries. For the purposes of meeting the requirements of paragraph (a) of this section, each person must enter the following information for each flight or lesson logged:
(1) General—
(i) Date.

I have no way of going back and getting the A/C number further than a month, and i am many many months behind.

I know guys have done monthly logs and got hired at majors, and i want to log it the way NetJets would want to see it.

I did it by trip. But you could also take the time and do it the right way. I had gotten 6 months or more behind in the past, and took a couple days each time to do it. That said, I got sick of that and started logging by trip.

I used to work with a guy who logged the tail number as 'Fleet' and he put a list of the airline's fleet tail numbers in the back of his logbook.

When I got hired at Netjets, they looked at the first page, and the last for a total of about 15 seconds.

I spent a month getting it "ready"!

That was 7 years ago, but I doubt its changed.

How would you answer "tell me about this flight when....."? I got that one and when I did it made me glad I spent the time it needed to get my logs ready.

The FAR quoted by "The_Russian" is taken from FAR 61.51 and applies to requirements for TRAINING and Aeronautical Experience. The FAR's do not require you to log flight time for any other reason. As long as you can show you meet the aeronautical experience, ie; IFR, night, etc. recency experience, any way you log flight time is up to you. If you are a Regional guy, no one will care what TAIL you were flying on a specific date, nor will they care if you log by flight, by day by month by year. As long as what ever you log is ACCURATE and honest and you can explain it, log however makes you comfortable.
