Hey Guys and gals,

In the coming days and weeks i wanted to get my "stuff" in with all the majors and nationals. My logbooks are up to date, but umm, theres a potential problem..... I ran a quick crosscheck to see if everything added up (pic + sic + fe + dual = Total time) and it isnt adding up. I am about 130 hours off on that (as just one example), over 3 logbooks and 6000 hours. I havent yet done the online apps, but im guessing that the numbers will need to total up correctly several different ways, not just TTL, PIC ect...
So a few questions for some of you who may have "been there, done that",

1. Is this a major problem for doing the online apps?

2. If not, and if i get to an interview, has anyone had their logbooks checked in that much detail?

3. If you yourself had this problem (surely, i cant be the only one) how did you fix it? ie... spend hours and hours redoing the math, or just adjust your total time to match pic + sic?

Now, before 50 people say "just go get electronic logbook dummy" it would take me weeks, probably a lot longer to order it and get all the info entered. I was hoping to get my apps in sooner rather than later.

I realize i may need to spend tons of time on this but i had the week off and wanted to get my apps out. However, i dont want to get eliminated right off the bat if the online apps make these mathmatical miscues obvious.

I appreciate any advice you guys may have!

Some of the Dual was probably also logged as PIC. I might be wrong but I thought FE time didn't go towards total time.

You can download it.

It really isn't that hard to enter the info.

Look at your first logbook, chances are, that is where the mistake is.

When in doubt, you could round your numbers down. With 6000 hrs, it shouldn't hurt you in the big picture.

I have an electronic logbook but it will take a month to input my 4 paper logbooks.

Thanks guys,
There are a lot of errors in my 1st logbook, due to having 5 different instructors for private to CFI, all of them thinking things should get logged a different way. I guess im just going to bite the bullet and spend a signicant amount of time a) going through and finding these errors, or b) entering it all into a electronic book

It may not be an error . In many cases Dual is logged as PIC. I even had that come up in an interview when logbooks weere reviewed.

I used Logbook Pro and got hired at United with it (the only Logbook I brought). It is a total pain in the arse to get caught up, but once you do it make apps so easy. You can do the Airline Apps matrix in less than 5 minutes.

Dual should never be logged as PIC. I know it CAN, but any airline will not accept it. The only overlap I have is 17 hours of multi that I needed for my MEI.

Here is a twist on flynhigh27's post. My civilian logbooks are up-to-date and pretty much error free but my 1st one is not pretty...I would say it is just messy. I started flying as a kid and didn't have the attention to detail that I do now. Mistakes were often corrected with white-out or just scratched thru (and not with a neat single line either). Even my current large "Master Pilot Log" that I started in college is the same (although not as bad and it got better as I got older). It wasn't really until I went into the military that I realized that I needed to present a more professional image in the way I recorded my flight time. Now I am very meticulous, careful, and neat. Assuming the data in a logbook is accurate, how much do you think neatness counts during an interview? Like I said, I can show that I have learned from my past and have made positive changes but the messy past is still there to be seen.
