I was wondering if anyone has used these programs and which one is better and why?

Hey there,

I currently use logbook pro myself. I lost my logbook a long time ago and it scared me to death until I found it a month after. Since that time on I decided it was worth it to drop the $70 for the program. Logbook Pro does everything you need and it has really detailed reports showing all sorts of information. Granted, a wiz with Excel or Access could probably get some of the same results but not in that tight of a program offering currency checks, reminders, and all the hour breakdown categories. Hell, this program even fills out 8710's. It really does a nice job putting together numbers to send out with a resume also. Alright, well thats my 2cents, a few of my friends directed me towards logbookpro so I never used any other programs. You can download and try it for free for like 50 entries or somewhere in that range.

If you can hold out another week or so, I'm just about 100% done with an electronic web based logbook. It also includes a student and endorsement database. When I finish I'll post a message so other folks can have a copy.

I like LB Pro for a lot of reasons....

Try them both...they're free to try. You should wait until LB Pro v2.0 come out, though. It will be in beta soon, hopefully. As soon as NC gets back from the Chair Force...

I haven't used either, but I've been thinking about both...

FlightLevel just seems clunky, haven't tried LogBook Pro yet...

Hey Chunk, who is that in your avatar? Very nice... :D

with logbook pro you will get free upgrades for life. I have been using it for over a year and since then 2 new versions have come out and I was able to download and upgrade with no problems. I have yet to find something that I don't like about logbook pro.

Flight level

The other log book program...

I have been using it for about 3 years now.. Each version they get a little better (although 2002 was a step backwards)

Upgrades can be had for next to nothing and they fix bugs fairly quickly and have had about 4-5 builds since 2003 came out.

While it does not do the 8710, it can do a good job breaking down just about anything you may want or need.

It has PDA support (yes it is more $$$), currently I log my flights like I would in my little blue book, hotsynch and add comments and I am done. The whole process is seamless.

They "claim" to be gearing towards reduced rest, legal rest, 30-7 and other legalities that plague us.

All in all, I am happy with the program and support.

Illini,

Actually, Neal said that v2 will start a new subscription. If you currently own 1.9.X you will stay static. Now, of course, that may change.

Well, I hope if I have to upgrade, I get something off the price, since I went ahead and bought it tonight. :)

Oh well, I'm happy with it so far, and it is really cool what it can do. Far easier to use than FlightLevel!

Argh! You changed your avatar! The two women almost kissing is far sexier...

:D

I decided to go with Flight level. They gave me a deal I could not refuse. I got both the desktop and the PDA for under 100 bones.

Too bad that was your motivating factor because LogBook Pro and Airlinelogbook.com (PDA version) are also selling together for under $100 now.
