Found out I'm getting Logbook Pro for Christmas  ... so which one do I need?

What does it do for me?

Standard? Pro? please help before my wife gets me something that I have no desire to posess and no idea how to use...

Thanks

*edit*
I should say, I'm kind of glad to be getting it since my new logbook is already FUBAR.

Would it be better/easier just to re-do the 3 pages in the new logbook that I have? My instructor that started this new book with me "mis logged" all of my instrument training time, so we had to go back through and everything is crossed out and re-written.

Is that gonna be a problem at an interview? It doesn't look good to say the least.

Anyway...

Go to their website for information on what each on does. Depends on your taste's.

I've used it ever since it came out with no problems. (Standard) with Palm Support.

On their website there is a message board with a section for 'FAQ' - I just bought it a few days ago and emailed the same question to the company - the response was that the 'Pro' and 'Standard' versions are exactly the same with the exception that the 'Pro' version license allows you to install it on two computers and has a sync capability to 'merge' the two together. If you only plan on using one computer save the $30 bucks and get the standard. I'm very happy with the program so far after about a week of using it.

haha I wish....I'd have to be home to peak under the tree...

Her parents just called me and she thought this one up all on her own and was SOOOOO excited so they were going to "look into it" for her and see which one "they thought was the best for me". So they're going to tell her that "they think" standard is the way to go.

So...I have to be really excited...

Thanks for the help folks...any tips on what to do with the current logbook situation (screwed up)? Is it going to be an issue in an interview? Should I just scan the endorsements? If I do that, do I need to scan each individual CFI endorsement for each individual flight, or just solo/checkride/high perf/complex/etc.?

Thanks again

I've went to several interviews with computer logs printed out and nicely bound and never had a problem. I've never had anyone ask to see my endorsements but I always take my original logbooks with me just in case they want to see them. **If** you would happen to get some a**hole that starts comparing the two just explain that you corrected errors you made when you were 'young and stupid and didn't know any better'. The better idea would be to pen and ink change your original logs as best you can so they match up reasonably well.

Thanks...

When you say "pen and ink change" the original ones....you mean just going in and making it correct?

If so then it's not a problem...I would just be putting the correct times into the electronic book in the first place and not having to correct them...

The endorsements are all right (as far as I know) and I'm current n' all...its just the numbers are a little screwy with lines through some of them...I'm sure nothing major since they're probably more interested in the total than a flight I took on such n such a day...

anyway...

Thanks again all

Yeah just go in a put 1 or 2 lines thru the wrong number and write the correct number above or below it(or to the side of of it or whatever). Don't mess with White Out or anything like that.

If you only have three pages filled out in your logbook buy another logbook and copy all the pages from FUBAR and make the new one correct and nice looking. Get your instructor to recopy or rewrite your endorsements with proper dates, N#'s and signitures. Make it look all better and not FUBAR. Keep that rewritten logbook and then when you get logbook pro start using that for day to day flights. Use the hard copy logbook for endorsments and checkrides. Get rid of FUBAR if you can. If you can't do that then just line out the error so the FED's can see the mistake. Don't use white out, they tend to think you are trying to hide something.

I went the Logbook Pro route when I had about 700 hours, found a few errors in my paper logs that way.

Since then, I've kept both up, mostly because I like having that paper feel of the paper logs, but I don't update it as often as I do the electronic version (it gets updated every flight).

Standard works just fine, I don't seen the need for the Pro version (silly, since it is called Logbook Pro to begin with)

Follow up:

If I'm going to do this, I'm going to make it easy on myself.

I've got a Palm m105, will this work with the Palm companion?(I already read their website and I don't understand it?)

If so, would I just be better off getting the Palm version?

4 years ago when I bought logbook pro I went with the the pro edition. My line of thinking was that if I ever purchased a laptop to take on the road, then I would be able to enter data there then sync it to my desktop once I got home.

Either way, you'll be happy with the gift.
If you still don't understand the Palm edition (I haven't tried, I don't have a palm) just give logbook pro a call or email them your question, they will help you out.
