Anyone know how SWA (or any other airline) feels about Logbook Pro or any other electronic logbooks, or do they prefer paper? Any recommendations on the best electronic logbook and why? Thanks.

Whatever works is fine with them. BUT, show up with all the pages, not just the printout of totals. Rereading your post are you saying you only have the info on a cumpooter? Better bring that laptop to the interview.

Southwest is rigid with their logbook review and they do NOT accept computer logbooks. Better get started!

Just kidding, they are very cool people and as long as they can get the jist of it, it's in logical order and printed out, I am sure they will have no problem with it. In fact some of the guys in my interview group had printouts from electronic logbooks. Good luck!

I just finished my second written logbook and I am considering moving into the electronic age, so the debate is between staying paper or going to disc.

My thoughts also, I went with logbook pro, found it unweildy, went back to paper.

Thanks, any ideas on when it's OK to start logging month-to-month instead of daily?

I used Logbook Pro for my SWA interview. I printed it in the Jepps format on the special paper you can buy and put into the leather binder of standard logbook size. Look incredible but the paper/log was expensive. That said the interviewer loved it and spent time just finding out how it was made and where he could get it. I got hired too, whatdaya know.

Perhaps CA at a major, better yet when you retire. I certainly wouldn't do it until you felt fairly sure you were at the final stop in your career. I know guys who got on here at SWA from USAir who had 20k+ hours and logged month to month and that was ok with SWA, but I bet any regional guy or someone with sub 10k hours would have been frowned on with a month to month log. That is just my opinion.

I too had my Logbook Pro printout at my SWA interview. My interviewer loved it. Everything was well organized. I used the Jeppesen format, printed it out on high quality antique style resume paper, and had it bound at the local office supply store for $3. I also printed out the aircraft configuration totals, and aircraft category summaries and put them last in the bound package. I also had my original hard logbooks up to when I started using LBP. Good luck.

Question about that,
What do you do about signatures for all of your dual received?
Thanks

That's a good question, however, I have not needed any endorsements since I started using LBP. As a student pilot, I had my student logbook which of course contains the necessary endorsements. Been 121 flying for over 9 years now.

While I did reenter all my old times into the new logbook, I still brought the old logs (with the signatures) in case they wanted to see that and verify the new computer log was accurate. They didn't even bother and just focused on the easy to read computer logbook pro print outs. Besides printing to a jepps logbook format and putting it in leather binders the same size as jepps log, I also created an extra 4 page pack (which i bound) of various charts that the program helped me create... things like pie charts of turbine vs. receip time, flying by year, pic bar graphs for different airplanes etc. they loved it.

I too had a positive experience with a computer log during my SWA interview in 2004. I brought both a computer printout and my logbooks. When the interview Captain wanted to see my logbook, I asked whether he preferred to look through my handwritten books (tabbed according to the instructions in the interview packet) or the computer printout. He chose the computer printout. I would ensure it is tabbed according to the instructions in the interview packet though.

I used LBP in my interview. I spent the last couple of months leading to the interview transferring my old crappy paper ones to LBP. Printed each page in Jepps customized style on cotton resume paper and took it to Staples to have bound.

The interviewer looked at it for 3 seconds and said, "I love computer logbooks."

Don't spend the money on the LBP paper and binder. He overcharges and you get nothing you can't get at Staples for 1/10 the price.

Now I use the airline logbook PDA and hotsync my daily flying right into LBP. God forbid I have to ever interview again I know the info is accurate and accessible. Paper is for old curmudgeon Capts. approaching 60

I also used my logbook pro print outs for the interview. I had Kinkos print out the pages (180+) and bind them for about $24. The interviewer liked the results and hopefully I'll get hired. Just make sure you follow the advice earlier and bring any original logbooks in case they want to see 'em.

You don't leed Logbook Pro to interview, but they require you to obtain it before you start class. Be careful though, other employers view owning Logbook Pro as a sign you want to work for Southwest.
